Um, Eutelsat announced that it ordered 229 additional OneWeb satellites from Airbus in order to extend its low Earth orbit broadband constellation.

Uh, that's in addition to the previous Airbus order for 440 satellites.

And if you're not familiar, Eutelsat Satellite is a European satellite operator.

Uh, they recently merged with OneWeb, which is also a satellite operator.

Um, the added OneWeb satellites will include more advanced onboard processing capabilities than the 440 spacecraft already on order.

Eutelsat also said it signed an auth- authorize- authorization to proceed, covering initial industrial activities for the satellites, with that expected one billion euro cost, uh, delivery to run through 2034.

Um, so if they get all of these satellites that they've ordered into space, that's 600 satellites.

But again, this kind of puts in contrast the size of this Aerospace Lab contract because, you know, most of this is coming from the Space Rice Consortium, which are the large, uh, Europe, European primes.

Um, so we did see a announcement this week out of one of them, which is Airbus being selected to de- design and build at least 66 LEO satellites on behalf of Eutelsat.

So this is a lot more in line with what we've been seeing, uh, where a large prime like Airbus is being contracted through an operator like Eutelsat to provide satellites for this constellation.

There's a couple interesting things about this, not just because it's smaller than Aerospace Lab, and Airbus is a much bigger company, uh, but because, you know, it, it calls out Eutelsat, which, you know, they're, they owned OneWeb at one point, although they've kind of divested from them over time.

Um, and these Airbus satellites are basically the OneWeb architecture, but being operated through Eutelsat.

So there's still some intermingling there between all these companies.

There is a slight difference in these satellites that Airbus will be provided, providing, uh, in that they are basically two OneWebs kind of duct-taped together.

Like knowing how they'd be able to solve those same problems elsewhere in other ways.
