Wow.

You know, pretty much ev- anybody who was, who was a big hit-

Diana Ross accepted all of Michael's awards that night on his behalf.

Grace Slick and Mickey Thomas of Jefferson Starship, at that point simply known as Starship, presented the best new artist in a video, which went to Eurythmics for Sweet Dreams Are Made of This.

Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones presented best stage performance in a video, which went to Van Halen for Jump.

Daryl Hall and John Oates introduced the winners of the professional categories.

I was, I don't know, 14 or something.

Eurythmics.

And it was Sweet Dreams.

And I stopped in my tracks.

I was walking the beach and I heard this and I was inching over to somebody's transistor radio and I realized I need to go to the coop in Harvard Square and find this artist.

And every time Eurythmics came to Boston, I would see them.

And she was a brilliant performer.

And mostly I felt like I relate to this woman's voice.

Um, so like, yeah, it was a very well done.

She also did a, uh, cover of Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics, and I Feel Love by Donna Summers.

Everyone, like a lot of big people were there, Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Shania Twain, Roland attended to watch.

And I think this just really proves how, how powerful a voice Shania, uh, as Celine has, and just that she is back.

It's Eurythmics at 36.

But when I passed you by this morning, you were stumbling down the street.

And by the look upon your face, I could tell you wasn't feeling too sweet.

Prince was 38 with The Bat Dance, down 19 from 19.

10,000 Maniacs were 37 with Trouble Me, new this week.

Eurythmics were 36 with Revival, up 4 from 40.

Paul McCartney was 35 with This One, the final new entry this week.

With a dozen artists or so that helped define that sound, we'll start shortly with Duran Duran.

But bands like The Cure, Depeche Mode, Eurythmics, Tears For Fears will all come back and remind you of that time.

I think the big band, and he's probably one of the biggest frontmen of that time, was Spandau Ballet.

So certainly in the second hour, we'll mosh with them and hear a dozen or so of their greatest hits.
