So they've dragged in the Welsh o- under false pretenses only because they've got a nationalist party that's got no intention of holding any referendum, 'cause they know they'd lose it by a whacking great, uh, minority.

Uh, so this is really being led by the Scots, and Scots are very close, as the SNP are, is with the European Council on Foreign Relations, which is the American arm of the, uh, global oligarchy, which we're now part of.

So they're, they are, they're very pro-EU.

I mean, this is, a- again, it's a, it's a sort of transatlantic thing.

We're really pleased and privileged to have Jeremy Shapiro on this week's episode of Around the World.

Jeremy is research director of the European Council on Foreign Relations, ECFR.

He previously worked in a number of think tanks and a number of capacities, also at the policy planning unit at the U.S. State Department, in the Obama administration.

He was at the Brookings Institution where I first met Jeremy in 2007.

In today's world of unorder, three trends are converging to produce a devastating food crisis.

So who is going to stand up? Can states still act together to prevent a catastrophe that nobody wants? And what role can Europe play in preventing this terrible situation from costing many, many lives.

Kerry Fowler and Jim O'Brien, who together with our colleague Jana Kobsever have just published an ECFR commentary that argues for a global coalition to prevent such a crisis.

It's these kind of tools that Europe has which protects them from economic blackmail, exactly like the kind Canada's facing from the US.

So what we're, what we're trying to understand here, you know, obviously after the rupture speech, after the threats from Donald Trump, the concept of middle powers has been very present on the minds of Canadians.

Saudi officials say Iran is also providing more weapons personnel and intelligence support to its Houthi allies in Yemen, increasing the threat to Saudi shipping and infrastructure and threatening another shipping choke point.

Quote, the U.S. campaign will have a significant effect on the average Iranian household, but in terms of Iran capitulating at the negotiating table, I've got a lot of doubts, says Elie Garamea, an Iran expert at the European Council on Foreign Relations.

The evidence we have suggests the Iranian regime is likely to resist.

Well,

But not everyone sees it that way.

Senior fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations, Frederick Wesslau, says while President Putin believes he can win, little will change as a result of negotiations.

And part of the problem is, of course, that Trump has been very reluctant to put any pressure on the Russians and then Putin.

So they think that as long as they hold out, Western support for Ukraine will crumble, Western unity will crumble.
