You know, it seems if there's a common theme of a lot of the Niner pickups this year, um, it, it is that they put a lot of, a lot of, you know, hope or credence into what Raheem wants.

And you know, they picked up Eugene Asante this week as a linebacker.

I asked Eugene, "What brought you here?" He said, "I used to play for Raheem before in Atlanta," and he, and, you know.

So I think Raheem is kind of the key element, and he's, he's the guy that's getting the guys that he wants.

You know, when I left Lumen Field in the playoffs, I thought, "It's gonna be really challenging for Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch to get the Niners on this level with the Seahawks." When you looked at where the Seahawks were on the cap, their relative age, where the Niners were on the cap, their relative age, how the playoff game went, how the last week of the regular season went, and you just looked at them and thought, "There's just...

It's gonna take a Herculean effort to get back on the playing field and get back even with these guys." And then John Schneider said, "You know what? We don't need the Super Bowl MVP," and he let Kenneth Walker walk away.

That was mistake one.

Mistake number two was just feeling like you just needed one guy to replace him.

And Sam Darnold doesn't...

Sam Darnold's one of those guys that he moves well outside of the pocket, and he's got good foot speed if you timed him, but he doesn't move well within the pocket, and he gets really nervous.

And we saw it all last night.

He didn't miss the game because they just elevated him from the practice squad, but now He is one of the, I believe, 12 49ers defensive linemen on the 53-man roster.

And then with the empty practice squad spot, the 49ers signed a second-year linebacker, Eugene Asante.

Fast linebacker, by the way.

Runs a 4-4-8-40.

And you just looked at them and thought, "There's just...

We're starting to see that Larry might have a type.

Um, Raheem's the key to everything they do defensively.

The linebacker they just signed yesterday, Eugene Asante.

I said, "Eugene, um, what brings you here? You know, how'd you...

Why are you a fit here?" And he's like, "Well, Ra and I know each other from..." So y- it's all about the Raheem connection.

alreadyThe Surge Show says, "What if we use CMC as a receiver and Black at running back?" I like the idea of a three by one set with CMC as the number three receiver all the way inside, lined up against linebackers in zone coverage.

That would be a cool way to use him.

[lips smack] Uh, now because of Greenlaw's suspension and because of Garrett Walow's injury, the Niners do need another linebacker.

So they do in fact sign Eugene Asante, who we talked about in yesterday's video, to the practice squad.

Um, I'm pretty interested to see if he gets elevated or not, or if we see maybe Garrett Walow go to IR or I don't, I don't know what the deal's gonna be.
