Ethical Supply Chain Program

Joining me today is Carmel Giblin, President and CEO of the Ethical Supply Chain Program, a global nonprofit that works with leading companies to improve conditions for workers throughout their supply chains.

So Carmel, welcome to the podcast.

I'm excited to get into this because we always talk about people in supply chain, and I don't think we actually really focus on people.

So I'm kind of excited to talk about this with you.

But before we get into the questions and some of the topics we're going to discuss today, can you kind of educate our audience a little bit on what the Ethical Supply Chain Program is, who you guys are, what you actually do? I mean, I gave you a brief introduction, but what is it that you guys are actually out there trying to

accomplish? sure well um the ethical supply chain program escp for short um we're a global community of responsible businesses we're a not-for-profit organization and together with our members we're committed to supporting suppliers and manufacturers to positively impact the lives of workers in their global supply chain um What we do day to day basically is we work with suppliers predominantly in Asia, China and Southeast Asia, to assess their performance in regards to the treatment of workers, to their compliance with international labour standards, for example.
