It was originally developed from a leaked NSA cyber weapon called EternalBlue.

So you have a military-grade digital weapon suddenly unleashed inside the most advanced manufacturing facility on Earth.

The fallout was instantaneous and catastrophic.

It was a ransomware attack.

The thing that was crazy about it was that it utilized a vulnerability that had a code name, Eternal Blue, because it had been developed by the NSA years before.

And rather than getting a patch, they literally used it as a spying strategy.

But when they got hacked by shadow brokers and leaked it, then it got widely distributed.
