So we are launching today our new economic growth statement.
Tim BarnesGUEST
0:28
Now that might sound like something that's quite boring and not immediately obviously related to readers and listeners of the Estates Gazette, but what it's basically saying is that over the next 5-10 years we've identified five key industry sectors that we think are going to be critical and have the real opportunity to grow in Westminster.
Tim BarnesGUEST
0:47
And as the center of what is realistically the best city in the world, I'm sure we could all agree on that.
Tim BarnesGUEST
0:52
It's critical that we see growth in Westminster that enables the city to fulfill its potential.
Jess HarroldHOST
2:37
And hopefully you'll
Tim BarnesGUEST

keep us
Jess HarroldHOST

And still not massively successful.
Luke DoranGUEST

purpose-led or focused on terms of where I want to be and what I want to be doing um and that was 2006 when I graduated so I did a short ski season in Canada with a really good friend because I've always been skiing and snowboarding which was fun cut that a bit short because we ran out of money because we were again playing very very hard there's a common theme here um um came back 2007 it would have been and so that would have that would you know for like February 2007 and so that was before the first financial crash you know in 2008 and so actually it felt like when I got back I had a degree not an amazing one but from a decent uni philosophy a load of work experience even though it wasn't like you know super senior but it wasn't at all and some sales experience from doing telesales and so it felt like when I put my CV out there was jobs everywhere it felt like a really active market and so quite quickly I got a job um a company called Estates Gazette.
Luke DoranGUEST
10:14
They're a commercial property publication and just selling advertising space for them.
Luke DoranGUEST
10:19
And that went reasonably well.

Hello from the London Real Estate Forum at the City of London Corporation's Guildhall and welcome to this Estates Gazette podcast.
Tim BurkeHOST

I'm Tim Burke, Estates Gazette's editor, and I'm here to discuss the health of the London office market and whether a strong occupier market can and will feed through into a rise in investment deals.
Tim BurkeHOST
0:25
I'm joined by two stars of the LRF stage from JLL, John Woodger, head of Central London Capital Markets, and Alistair Meadows, head of International Capital for the UK, who are both fresh off stage from the Great Hall from a discussion about the state of the market.
Tim BurkeHOST
0:44
John, let's start with the big picture.

Tim BurkeHOST
14:19
The building blocks are there.
Tim BurkeHOST
14:20
That is what we like to hear.
Tim BurkeHOST
14:23
John, Alistair, thank you both so much for sharing your thoughts with Estates Gazette today and with the LREF audience on the stage, of course.
Tim BurkeHOST
14:31
Thank you for listening.

[gentle music] If the government is to meet its ambitious and much-discussed target of building three hundred thousand new homes per year, it inevitably needs the capital to provide a significant share.
Jess HaroldHOST
0:14
But with socioeconomic impacts far beyond the UK's control and a raft of legislative and policy shifts to contend with, how can London's developers meet that challenge? I'm Jess Harold, here with the latest Estates Gazette Property Podcast, recorded here in historic Guild Hall, right in the heart of the London Real Estate Forum.
Jess HaroldHOST
0:32
And I'm delighted to be joined by Annabel Redman, partner at Clyde & Co, and Mark Eden, board director at Arada London, to discuss these issues.
Jess HaroldHOST
0:40
Welcome to both of you.

The property market was just going great guns.
Rory MorrisonGUEST
3:00
The Estates Gazette used to be a physical publication.
Rory MorrisonGUEST
3:03
It was inches thick in terms of the adverts.
Rory MorrisonGUEST
3:06
The bit that really got me was the people, tangible assets, stuff you can put your arms around, you can see, you can go and visit, you can connect with the tenants, etc.
