this year? Espresso was a summer hit.

I remember that one.

But Espresso isn't 2026.

I don't know.

Did we have an embarrassment of riches last year? I mean, last year wasn't Brat Summer, right? Last year was Espresso.

Yeah, that was two summers ago.

Yeah, Brat Summer was two summers ago now.

I like hearing about the real meanings of songs.

Like, did you know that Espresso is about how Sabrina Carpenter took away her own brother's virginity? What? That's what that song is about? Apparently, it was his birthday.

Huh.

That's pretty generous, I guess.

I love both of their songs.

I actually covered a version of Espresso, which is the Sabrina Carpenter

song.

Huge show, yeah.

Any songs that has a good bass line, I'm going to like.

And Espresso's got that as well.

But Dua Lipa's, what's that called? Did a full 180.

I do feel like moments that are globally unifying.

So for example, like the world cup or the Olympics or cultural events like Barbenheimer and, um, songs of the summer how they used to be up until I would say probably 2024 was kind of like the last big one where we had you know at least a couple songs of the summer with Not Like Us and Espresso they are kind of unifying you you hear people everyone playing it out at their cookouts you hear people listening to it while they're driving around and it kind of feels like okay we're all living in this shared experience.

It gives us a shared love of something.

And so, yeah, while I feel like, especially this year, Song of the Summer means a lot less than what it used to, I do still think that there's some importance to it, I guess.

Last year's, and they were meaning 2024, last year's was Espresso.

I agree that the constant no song of the summer, where is it discourse is a bit much.

So she would do that, then the audience would go crazy, like, "Oh my God, slay, iconic, queen," blah, blah, blah, and that was a fan favorite for a long time.

But before she got her big break with Espresso she was already leaning into the sarcastic, quirky, witty, sexual image.

But after Espresso, that was amplified, 'cause remember, nonsense was before Espresso.

And I feel like her team saw how well nonsense was doing and they're like, "Okay, let's really lean into that ish." And then she made Espresso and they saw the success of that and they were like, "Okay, we gotta go full in.

We really gotta capitalize on this moment." And that's how Espresso was born, and that's also how the Juno poses were born.

Okay, now we are getting into the moment where everything changed for Sabrina.

'Cause talking about me, am a bio, it's a sweet I guess so.

Espresso, arguably the song of 2024.

It's all coming together.
