Especially for You

Mm-hmm.

What song did they sing? They sang Especially for You.

Oh.

Yeah.

That's lovely.

I didn't know that.

I think it's Especially for You.

Yeah.

[laughs]

So that's Especially For You by Kylie and Jason.

Absolutely.

Kylie and Jason, 1988.

Yeah.

He was that, wasn't he? Everyone went on the Terry Wogan show, 7 o'clock at night, and I remember they came in and they They sang the duet Especially For You and she sang I Should Be So Lucky and it was just incredible.

This is in the 80s.

This is before Home and Away was even thought of.

This helped launch her music career in 1987, which she did with the cover, The Locomotion, which reached number one in several countries.

This was closely followed with I Should Be So Lucky, Got To Be A Certain, Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi, and the duet with Jason Donovan, Especially For You.

During the 1990s, Kylie's image evolved and she explored many different music styles.

Her album Impossible Princess in 1997, she wrote or co-wrote almost every track.

Born and raised in Melbourne, Minogue first achieved recognition starring as Charlene Mitchell in the Australian soap opera Neighbours.

She began her music career in the late 1980s, releasing four dance pop studio albums under PWL.

By the early 1990s, Minogue had amassed several hit singles in Australia and the UK, including The Locomotion, I Should Be So Lucky, Especially For You, Hand On Your Heart and Better The Devil You Know.

Taking more creative control over her music, she signed with Deconstruction Records in 1993 and released the albums Kylie Minogue and Impossible Princess.

And then I've got four, actually.

I've got Kylie and Jason, especially for you.

It's a fucking classic.

Especially for you.

I used to love that.

Did you cry when you heard it? They used to walk across the stage towards each other.

And then, you know, later down the line, they're a sort of secret couple in real life.

And then, especially for you.

But yes, the first time Kylie is seen on Neighbours is punching him in the face.

It's amazing how things work out, isn't it, really? It's like foreshadowing.

So the kind of Kylie and Smash Hits era, they bolster each other.

You know, we were selling loads.

You know, I remember the Especially For You cover with Kylie and Jason was an absolutely huge seller.

You know, it was like, you know, close.
