And what I found fascinating, [laughs] and I mentioned in the article, is I thought, "Why..." Because there's, there's also lots of scholars he doesn't mention.

I was like, "Why doesn't he mention, uh, these, um, scholars?" Um, even though he does, uh, in other places like Curtius, for example, is, uh, o- o- o- on, um, was it Latin Styles and Theology? Um, but particularly, you know, he explicitly says in one of his first, is, "I've not found any book on Dante and theology." And I just thought, "This is strange." Um, he, he must be reading Man- Well, I thought he was reading Mandan, and that was one of the kind of delights of doing this research, 'cause as I mentioned in the article, I actually, uh, you know, contacted the, uh, his, uh, the archive in his personal library in Basel.

And, um, and it turned out not only that, um, he had this copy, uh, of, uh, Mandan's Dante the Theologian, but he actually had it shortly after it was published, and he had it right at the beginning of his priestly ministry, and it was from one of his closest friends.

So, um, so but it's interesting to me that he, he, he doesn't want to mention that.

... um, he, he identified, um, the, uh, the person who gave the book.

Um, and um, and he said, "I cannot believe that Balthasar had not read, um, Balthasar's book." Um, also, and he also said his other close friend, uh, Emil Bliker studied Dante in Heidelberg with, uh, Ernst Robert Curtius.
