What are the big buckets that you explain to your patients as far as reducing risk?
19:08
Yeah.
19:09
So the first one definitely is always gonna be diet.
19:11
As a dietician, you know, it's, it's hard not to start there because the food that we put on our plate at every single meal makes such a big difference in how we feel in terms of our inflammation, in terms of our energy levels and our sleep.
19:23
It all really, really starts on the plate for me when I talk to clients.
19:27
Um, so we focus on balanced meals.
19:29
We focus on balancing our blood sugar.

59:34
And so what, what advice would you give someone when they, if they really wanna take their colon health more seriously, what are the first things that someone should do?
11:26
... types of probiotics? And do you have a preference? And we can get maybe into the nuances of, like, what the preferences might be for in certain cases.
11:35
Yeah.
11:36
I mean, so if you're looking for just, like, a basic daily gut support supplement, my preferred option would be something that is broad spectrum, so meaning it has, um, a multiple different strains in it.
11:49
So you're gonna see, I usually tell clients look for at least five to six different strains of probiotics on the back of that label.
11:56
So usually some of those are gonna be, again, Lactobacillus and Bifido.
12:00
Those are more common for the supplements that I would recommend clients take on a regular basis or consume on a regular basis.
12:09
So like Lactobacillus rhamnosus, for example, that one's really good for, um, like diarrhea, um, really good for kids that have GI issues.

23:47
[laughs]
12:45
Hmm.
12:45
Um, but within six months, she was back into a pretty standard range of 15, which is incredible.
12:50
Um, most adults, that would take longer.
12:53
So it really depends on so many factors.
12:55
It depends on the person's health in general, right? Um, age, we have noticed a difference.
13:02
Pediatrics definitely lo- uh, heal and labs improve much faster than adults.
13:07
What their diet looks like, what they're doing to reduce inflammation, what they're doing to address nutrient deficiencies, and some of it's out of our control in terms of just your body's turnover time for healing.

34 MINS LATER

47:41
What would be your suggestions for them on what they should do next?
2:05
I haven't had you on before, so I would love to just start by sharing a little bit of your personal story and how you discovered you had celiac disease, and how that might have led you to what you do today as a registered dietician in the celiac space.
2:21
Yeah.
2:22
I love it.
2:23
As you said that, I just thought of my gluten challenge, which I, like, typically leave out of my diagnosis phase, but I'm gonna include that piece of my diagnosis.
2:31
So I'm Erin Kenney.
2:33
I am a wife.
2:34
I'm a mom of two littles.

9 MINS LATER

11:46
Did you feel sick to your stomach eating that? And how do people overcome that if they're just so sick and can't eat gluten again?
