... understand where that comes from.

I mean, I would say that, that a lot of our career choices have been really directed by failure because when something wasn't working, we had to figure out something else to do.

And then so many things ended up working kind of all at the same time.

But a lot of it is due to being on a path, and that path having a li- a lot of blocks, and feeling really frustrated, and feeling like that path is no longer available.

So then saying yes to something that is adjacent that maybe we would've said no to if we were operating out of fear, but it worked, and it always redirects you back to where you need to be.

So, like, I think about, I was trying to be an actress in my 20s.

Mm-hmm.

Now there's a little more awareness around it, but the likelihood of that egg working is just very low.

Um, but-

But this is a good point when you were saying that about being able to not have so much interference.

Because I think as creative people working on a deadline and working over the weekend when you're burnt out, you're not gonna get the best work.

I know that for myself, I always felt like I was embarrassed to be the first one to wanna go home or not be the one that wanted to work over the weekend.

And now our writers' room goes from 10:00 to 3:00 every day, and we get a lot done.

And we get more done working in that timeframe than staying longer, and the people in the room not going to bedtime for their kids, being resentful and being frustrated because we, we...

No one's look, looking at their phone.

Aaron, one of your leads, uh, Kristen Bell, said that she believes you'll become a reference point in television and film, and people will be like, "Oh, Tim Burton-esque, Wes Anderson-esque, Aaron Foster-esque." And I'm wondering, how would you describe Aaron Foster-esque?

[laughs] We s-

We signed it at Hugo's.

[laughs] Over lunch.

So basically we, you know, like 15, no, 20 years ago or something, we started w- our dad wanted us to have an LLC with our sisters for like legal things and, and I, being the person who always had to do everything, was the person who exec- it k- named it or whatever, and like was the executor who would sign, sign things.

So I just named it Favorite Daughter Music because like every other parent, you know, our dad would joke when, when he was alone with us that we were the favorite.

And so everybody's being told that they're the favorite when you're alone, and then you talk to each other and realize that he's been telling everybody this.

So it was just like a joke, like a nothing, you know? Call it Favorite Daughter Music.

I mean, I-

Wait, so Kristen Bell recently said, the reason season two was easier is y'all finally saw each other.

Yeah, you know, I think that season one was really hard and it has been a very cool relationship to have grow over the course of the show because season one was, I was trying to do something a little bit different.

And I think there were times where she was like, what are you doing? And then we both looked at it and we're like, oh, okay.

We knew what we were doing and it really worked.

And it's been very cool to see her sort of talk about that openly.

And, you know, usually everyone just says everything was great.

Everything was perfect.

Is it true that Adam Brody was not the number one choice? I wouldn't look at it that way.
