But all of these people were strangers to Erica, so she was left trying to piece together connections and relationships in real time.

time.I didn't even know who any of these people were when it first started.

The very first notification we got that she was missing was from the roommate, and I had never heard of her.

I had no idea who she was or what was going on.

Brandon, I had never met.

He was on my radar before I met him because of what everyone was telling me.

I met him in person.

She struggled to understand why law enforcement would be sharing sensitive details of the investigation with a person who had such a troubled history with Brianna.

What about you?

Uh, my name's Erica.

I am 25 years old, and I'm from Oregon with a high school, a high school degree.

Um, I currently do farmers markets in my local area, and I write on my free time.

Uh, longest relationship?

Uh, going on four to five years now.

Um-

Did you try to get any other support before the program?

I did, yeah.

I went to individual counseling.

So I s- sought out, like, a specific sex therapist.

Um, [laughs] it's funny, when I...

So I was looking for a sex therapist, and then so I interviewed a couple of, uh, therapists before I chose the one I wanted to go with.

And the first one I talked to, she was like, "Um, I can't help you if you don't want, if you don't wanna ever have sex again.

What are you learning about right now when it comes to your sexual experiences, and what are you excited to move towards?

Like, isn't that wild?

Yeah.

I literally had a coworker yesterday ask me, like, "Oh, do you use MyFitnessPal?" Like, "Are you tracking anything?" And I was like, "No," like I literally don't track anything.

And she was mind-blown.

And I just remember, like, the first week in the program, the live coaching call was talking about, like, diet culture and how we grew up.

And, um, I remember, I have a twin brother, and he was always underweight and I was always overweight.

Which looking back, like, I really wasn't overweight, but you know.

What was the hardest aspect for you?

[laughs]

... what are the chances that I'm gonna have a yes to that question?" Like, you know? So anyway, I did, I, I just went, I ranted about that.

And then that happened to get picked up on Phish Internet and went viral all over Facebook and Twitter, and all of a sudden all these people started following me.

I'm like, "What the F is going on? I didn't ask for this." And everyone was making fun of me, and people were being really mean.

And I was like, "This is, uh..." I had no idea, like, what this was all about.

But then again, since I, I'm a very surrendered to the flow person, right? So I'm thinking, "Wait, why was I in Vegas two years ago? Why w- like, why was I there that weekend? Why did I meet that guy? Why was it the very first guy I went out with asked me if I liked Phish?" And I was like, "Maybe I should actually listen to this music," instead of just, like, making fun of it because everyone makes fun of it, right? Like, it's like a joke.

It's like a Simpsons episode.

Yeah

[laughs]

And i- it's r- that part is rough.

Um, and that doesn't develop at all.

Like you said, it's to a d- its detriment throughout the show.

So that's something that you just kind of have to like, "Okay, this is what they're doing.

My beloved character in the center of the show is actually not in it." And you just have to a- if, if you want to enjoy it at all, if you're trying to enjoy it, you just, you have to get past that because it doesn't get better, which is sad.

But there is, there's a, there's still good there.

"How'd that get on your backpack?"

I don't care about their hands.

I mean, I love a good, uh, you know, hand.

[laughs] Um, but yeah, I mean, it's- it's nice.

I mean, it's- it's not like a deal breaker.

I'm not looking at their hands inspecting them like, "Ugh."

So any tips for guys on their smile?

I would just say, you know, if you're happy, it'll show it.

[laughs] You know, I love, like, just, like, a smiley, like, goofy guy, um, you know, that's, you know, there to have fun and, and kind of be the life of the party, you know? I don't know.

Have you noticed it sort of changed over the years?

It has to.

I think it has to, because it has to change as I change and evolve.

So w- right now I'm, you know, at this wonderful phase of life called menopause, and I'm actually menopausal, not perimenopausal at this point.

I'm very young for my, you know, for going through it.

Uh, but as I change and evolve, my, my journey changes, and that's one thing too with the name, you know, My Sober for the Health of It.

I'm not sober just for, you know, just to be sober, not to remove alcohol, but I'm sober for all of my mental, my health, my wellbeing, my m- my physical, my emotional, my spiritual, my mental health.

So what was your first area that you want to talk about that you've noticed in sobriety?

Mm-hmm

... like with people and like these people-- Well, obviously you don't wanna misrepresent yourself, but maybe someone was hardcore vegan and that was their thing and that their whole life, like spirit, everything was connected to that.

That's great.

That's fine.

Um, and maybe time moved on and they learned, "Oof, this is not working for me sustainably." And, and that's okay.

Like it's very hard to be in that position publicly, um, and have to go through that and feel that backlash.

But just knowing like things are going to change always.

Like, if you're like, "Hey, what you doing?" And they're like, "Oh, I'm just chilling." [laughs] You're like, "Um, okay, like, what about you?" You know, like, ask like, what am, what am I doing, you know? So, like, conversations like that, you know? 'Cause if you're texting boring, then a girl, she's not going to be interested and respond back.

So that's how you can tell, like, if you're keeping that interesting.

And then, like, she's actually, like, responding back, laughing at your jokes, like LOL-ing it.

I would say, like, body language, you know.

But, like, you know, I think with the distance and then the fact that I didn't know who this person was, and on top of it he's lied to me before, it was all just...

I was getting a little suspicious-

You didn't go two hours away to golf with a buddy.

I know for a fact that you are lying, because I checked your car mileage before you left to go visit this college friend, and you only drove 20 miles.

And the man that owns it, he's just, he's renovating it, turning, turning it into smaller apartments and, like, renting them out.

Where he gets the money to do that, I have no idea, but it is such a cool place.

What's next for everybody? Do you have some exciting locations you're gonna be going to this year?

Yes.

Um, next weekend, well, not this upcoming weekend, but the one after that, we are going to do a private residence in Draper.

And then, um, [sighs] oh my goodness, after that is our trip to Idaho, Steve?

How did this team get started?

Um, a friend of mine and my husband's, Robbie, um, called my husband and said, "Hey, I'm thinking about starting a ghost hunting team.

Would you like to go ghost hunting with me?" And he was like, "No way in hell." [laughs]

There had to have been reason, like did he think you might be interested in the paranormal? Had you expressed some interest in the paranormal?

Um, I don't think I ever did to Robbie, 'cause we, we weren't very close.

Kinda just acquaintances.

Um, I know his brother better than I know him, actually.

Um, I think he was just trying to find people to help him out and join a team.

That was coincidence.

Well, the number one most cat thing that you did on our cruise was at the shark excursion when the tour leaders were screaming, "It's time to get in the boat.

It's time to get out of the water," because they were getting ready to feed the sharks.

And I told you because you didn't hear them.

Um, you sassed me like a child.
