And so when I think back to that time at university when I was making the decision I think I on reflection I decided to become a child educational and developmental psychologist and to work with children and young people because the way that I saw it I could spread some of that warmth that she had shared with me um and I could help children to feel safe and seen and valued and heard just as she did when I was growing up and continues to do and and I guess you know thinking about that question um what or who influenced my decision.

Another person who had a profound impact on my decision and who's, I think, really shaped the therapist that I am today, that person is Erica Frydenberg.

And I don't think she needs any introduction.

I know that she was a guest on your podcast recently.

And I was really fortunate to see Martin Seligman speaking at the Evolution of Psychotherapy Conference not long afterwards in 2005.

And he talked about the importance of helping people to find their strengths and to put their strengths into practice.

So to answer your question, I would say that it was, you know, my mum and Erica Frydenberg and Martin Seligman.

I think they've all been key influences on me and have really shaped how I work today.
