Crow

The scarecrow's now closer.

Oh, Eric Draven's going to show up.

Imagine.

It'd be the one of the shitty ones, though.

Of course, we are going to see, and I can't believe this is real.

This is the debut of Crow Stinks.

Now he hasn't got it all the way dialed in yet, but this is going to be the first time we see him, but that's not really the a story at this point.

The a story is what nitro opens with a recap of what's going on with Randy Savage and miss Elizabeth.

The Crow, screenplay by David J. Hsiao and John Shirley.

It was directed by Alex Proyas.

And according to IMDb, the night before his wedding, musician Eric Draven and his fiance are brutally murdered by members of a violent gang.

On the anniversary of their death, Eric rises from the grave and assumes the mantle of the Crow, a supernatural Avenger.

Yeah, I mean, that kind of crosses the T's and dots the I's.

I'm going to say this right off the bat.

Which is interesting because like literally just finished rewatching this movie and there isn't a lot of needle drops in it.

There isn't in the movie itself, right? You see two different bands playing throughout.

That number gets tossed around a lot and it's hard to pin down because it includes extended family and people who died well after filming, but some of it is solid.

Jack McGowran, who played Burke Dennings, the film director character, who gets thrown out of the window, died of complications from the flu in early 1973, before the movie even came out.

Vasiliki Malerios, who played Father Karras' mother, also died before the release.

In the film, both of their characters die.

Max von Sydow, who played Father Marin, reportedly lost his brother during the shoot.

Linda Blair's grandfather reportedly died during production as well, and Jason Miller, who played Father Karras, had his young son seriously injured when he was hit by a motorcycle.

He was 37.

Here's the creepy part.

It's Goth Only Knows, number one.

What British rock band fronted by Robert Smith is known for songs like Boys Don't Cry, Love Song, and Just Like Heaven? Number two, what 94 film starred Brandon Lee as Eric Draven, a murdered musician who returns from the dead to avenge his fiancee? Number three, who wrote the famous dark poem The Raven? Number four, what artist had a 90s hit called Beautiful People? Number five, who wrote the Gothic novel Interview with the Vampire? Number six, Simon Belmont is the hero in what whip-cracking Nintendo game from 1986? Number seven, The Chilling Adventures of Blank was a darker twist on Netflix for what Archie character? Number eight, how many members make up The Coven in the 1996 witchy movie The Craft? Number nine, in what year did Hot Topic open its first store, 1979, 89, or 99? Number 10, what band had the 1980 hit Love Will Tear Us Apart? And number 11, goth only knows bonus question for two points.

It's a little bit tougher.

Trent Lane is an animated character that had several goth posters in his bedroom on what animated series? Those are all your questions.

Let's see if you got them all correct.

Number one, what British rock man, fronted by Robert Smith, is known for songs like Boys Don't Cry, Love Song, and Just Like Heaven? That's The Cure, The Cure.

Number two, what 94 film starred Brandon Lee as Eric Draven, a murdered musician who returns from the dead to avenge his fiancée? That's The Crow, The Crow.

Number three, who wrote the famous dark poem The Raven? Edgar Allan Poe.

This time with another edition of the Creepy Classics, but one I'm surprised I didn't cover before.

But, uh, this is The Crow, with the original 1989 comic by James O'Barr, and of course, the classic 1994, uh, movie adaptation by... directed by Alex Proyas and starring the late, great Brandon Lee.

Both sto- both the comic and the story stick pretty close to each other with it telling a story of Eric Draven, who after him and his fiancée are, uh, killed, he comes back to life and, and decides to hunt down the people that killed him.

And, uh, it, it's just a, a classic revenge story with a neat supernatural angle.

Though both, uh, the comic and the book are a little different.

The comic is more of a gritty crime thriller that doesn't, uh...

It, it hints the supernatural angle, but we don't know yet if Eric Draven is actually might be been alive the whole time, he's just coming back to kill them, or he, he was brought back from the dead.

Whereas in the movie, it's very clear that the, a crow, a supernatural crow brings, uh, Eric Draven back to life.
