Oh, where to start? I had a career working for film festivals and, uh, One of my jobs was a full-time year-round position as the programming manager at the Maryland Film Festival.

And in the meantime, I was working on the Fred Lane documentary, Hit and Stay, the Erg documentary, and I wasn't getting any work done on my own films.

And meanwhile, every year I'm programming new films by a lot of the same filmmakers, and it's driving me nuts that I'm not getting any work done on my own films.

So in July of 2009, I thought, I need to leave my job and get back to my filmmaking.

I actually got him to help work on Freaks in Love.

The Fred Lane film, it was easy to put that on the back burner because I'd been doing it for 10 years already.

Same with the Erg film.

But so right away, I'm leaving my full-time office job at a film festival and immediately diving into digitizing this big cardboard box that Alice Donut FedExed to me that was their video archive.
