Now, bravo to you on your work in budget estimates, trying to get some truth and some realism from government officials over the closure of New South Wales coal-fired power stations, especially the huge Araring station.

We're just sort of hoping that the whole renewable thing all goes according to plan.

And they want to shut them.

They've all got plans to be shut down within about eight years.

The biggest one is Araring, which is about, I think, about 30% of New South Wales' electricity.

And they said they were going to shut it.

Yeah, absolutely.

There's no chance now that we can have Eraring, the biggest coal-fired power station in New South Wales and, indeed, the country, close down in 2029 and keep the lights on.

It's all the evidence is now on the table.

The latest report came out from the market operator just this week, and they said we scraped through just under the threshold for one year, but they assume snowy 2.0 will actually come on right on time.
