Episiotomy?

Episiotomy and then, and, and then the kiwi, the ventouse.

But I think if I had understood, just push a poo out, this is so stupid, then I would've been fine.

But I, I just didn't understand.

That means fewer forceps, fewer vacuums, fewer episiotomies, 'cause none of us wanna get our lady bits cut.

Episiotomy is a surgical cut, for those of you who don't know, of your vagina.

Fewer abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, which tell us the baby is actually doing better during pushing, and a shorter pushing stage.

So that last one was only about six minutes shorter on average, which sounds small, but when you've been pushing for an hour, six minutes is everything.

Women, you probably know what an episiotomy is.

Episiotomy is in advance while you're having a baby the vaginal way, instead of waiting for you to tear, a doctor may choose to cut you to avoid tearing, but you are sewn up after the fact in order to fix, I guess, what was cut.

He called it a tear.

Now, you can understand how someone who does not, honestly the layperson, can say that they're like similar things.

We want to know how a clinician have to fundamentally alter their technique, like literally how they angle and drive a needle when treating two completely different conditions in these intimate tissues.

Specifically, we're talking about generalized mucosal atrophy versus a dense, localized episiotomy scar.

Right.

Because in this specific part of the body, if you go a millimeter too shallow, the treatment just completely fails.

Oh, really?

Yeah.

And that brings us to the second terrain, the focal episiotomy scar.

Unlike the slow thinning you see with atrophy, an incision from childbirth causes the body to urgently lay down this disorganized, highly fibrotic tissue just to patch the wound.
