English Open

So they put the two Swedes together as we as we thought.

But I just thought the two English ladies would be more effective.

But yeah, great performance from the Europeans.

And yeah, lots of lessons to be learned about Heineken drinking.

Is their head in the right space? But you clearly think that his is.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

I don't think he's the sort of guy that's going to get the same level of grilling as John Rahm, say, or Tyrell Atten even this week, an Englishman playing in England.

Lots of questions to be asked of those guys.

Yeah, the taste of the 50s in a glass there if ever I, if ever I knew it.

But Phil, two tournaments for the price of none because loads going on, hasn't there? And, uh, well, particularly we've got to say congratulations to Ali Carter, who has just won the English Open.

Superb effort from him, and we'll focus on that in a couple of moments' time.

Later, we will reflect on another brilliant performance from Jack Jones winning the British Open i- in Cheltenham.

It's Talking Snooker here, and we say congratulations to Ali Carter.

He is the winner of the English Open.

A brilliant victory for Ali in his, uh, well, his own backyard in a way, in Essex, in Brentwood.

We're a little later this week than normal because there's been a lot of snooker going on.

As you may have noticed, we've gone straight from the British Open to the English Open, but we must start by congratulating Jack Jones on winning the British Open.

The history of the British Open, and it's a long history, It's kind of, I mean, to be fair, a lot of tournaments are like this, but it's sort of twofold.

You've got the names you expect to see.

William Boyko had a couple of good wins.

So it was an enjoyable week.

And Jack Jones, it wasn't any great surprise that he pulled out the English Open because, of course, he is...

It may have happened by now as I record this on Wednesday...

So, yeah, I think he's a decent player.

He beat me in the English Open a few weeks ago, and he's obviously taken loads of confidence from that, so I'll leave it there.

Once you've got the scalp of Stephen Haworth.

It's a big scalp.

But I'm only bringing it up because Mark Allen [smacks lips] missed the first three, uh, events of the season due, for, he said for personal reasons, he withdrew.

He was due to play at the English Open and the Welsh Open, uh, in the next couple of weeks.

He's withdrew from those for personal reasons as well.

He hasn't actually played a match since that.

Or do we want to repeat that? I wouldn't mind seeing that for my work, to be fair.

But yeah, British Open, then the English Open starts the day after that.

And then we're just into that super busy part of the season back on these shores.

So, Yeah, plenty to look forward to.
