Emmons Glacier

This summer, I got to lead guided hikes there, and the first place I'd always bring visitors was Emmons Vista.

It's really special because on a clear day, you can see from the bottom of Emmons Glacier, the largest glacier on the mountain, all the way up to the summit of Mount Rainier.

From the viewing point, which is along the Silver Forest Trail, you can look out at a full view of the mountain.

The Emmons Glacier is absolutely gigantic.

You really can see how it's the largest glacier on the whole mountain.

But what many people don't notice at first is that it's even bigger than it appears.
