They would have given you five different times to have ordered.
36:15
Sure.
36:15
I mean, the answer is always a month ago or two months ago was the right time to have ordered.
36:21
And, and so, you know, I want to, I want to be helpful by sharing my experiences and, But I also know that sometimes that's not what people need or are looking for.
36:36
But then, you know, I will admit, I went to TTGDA, an event at, it wasn't this Gen Con, it was a previous convention.
36:48
And someone in there who's not Jeff Engelstein, not Elizabeth Hargraves, right? But someone stood up and basically gave a rant about, like, we're here to say F you to publishers and, like, get what's ours.
36:59
And I was like, I don't feel like I should be in this room, right? And, like, I think TTGDA has so much good that they are doing.

You know? Yeah.
7:19
Yeah,
7:20
so it's a square table.
7:21
So you know a lot of times at convention centers you see sort of a cocktail height round table.
7:25
Yeah.
7:26
So this is a square table.
7:28
It's got like a little lip.
7:30
So a wooden lip over a neoprene sort of flat surface.
9:44
alert, we played a game of yours.
11:05
fruity chocolatey or just none of those things
11:08
And so every round, the game is played over nine rounds, and every round you're going to deploy your pirate meeple into the pirate ship where there are a bunch of action spaces.
11:19
And the action spaces are ordered front to back such that the ones at the front get you sort of the least amount of things and the ones at the back get you a lot of things or get you to where you can serve the captain your set of afternoon tea and score doubloons, which is important because the pirate with the most treasure is the winner.
11:37
So basically the trade-off that you're making there is I can go early and I can get just a few things, but I get to choose first, right? Or I can go later and get a bunch of stuff, but I kind of get whatever's left over.
11:48
But that order also changes the turn selection order for the next round.
11:54
So if you need to make sure you get your first choice next round, you might have to hedge forward such that you, you know, maybe get a little less this round, but it makes sure that you can serve the captain next round.
12:06
And so there's some fun sort of jockeying for position on the pirate ship while you're also trying to do this sort of set collection because your T's, your objectives, they are a sort of A and or B scoring.

And what was your favorite and least favorite part of the experience of working on Pirates of High Tees? And I want us to focus a little more on the design side.
1:04
Go ahead, Em.
1:05
Okay.
1:06
Uh, so I am-- There's, there's some prep...
1:09
Well, there's not yet prep happening for Origins.
1:12
There's more sort of overall prep.
1:14
So I'm in a...
1:16
I've got-- I'm trying to get my files submitted for Good Kitties to get my content creator copies from the factory, and I need to get those sent in before I leave for Origins.

Mm-hmm.
13:20
... that don't know? Yeah.
13:21
Absolutely.
13:22
So I come from a human computer interaction background, so I studied how do you make software very intuitive for people to use so that they know what they should do, how to recover from errors when they make a mistake in their software.
13:39
And, and generally, you want software as an experience to sort of disappear, for people to not think about the fact that they're using software, uh, because if they're thinking about it, they're frustrated probably.
13:51
They're looking for something.
13:52
And so in general, right, usability is about, is about turning the interface itself invisible, making it so intuitive that people don't even think about what they're doing.
14:02
It's just obvious what they should do if they want to accomplish task X. Um, and so usually that gets put into a couple different groups.
