Emily Lyon

So I'm curious, first of all, how did y'all become a part of Expand the Canon? I can go first.

So I became part of Expand the Canon because Emily Lyon, who's a brilliant artistic director of Expand the Canon and I, became friends fairly soon after we both graduated college.

And we were part of a group of young Shakespeare professionals called the Ambassadors of the Shakespeare Society back in like 2013.

So I followed Emily's work for a long time and think she's brilliant.

I was talking about earlier this combination of new work and classics that I had done in grad school, and when I entered the ensemble in that first two years, we mounted a production called Taste of Shakespeare, and it was three Shakespeare plays.

So Emily Lyon cut these three plays.

We did Twelfth Night, Tempest, and Midsummer, and she cut them down to 20 minutes a piece.

And y- we did them all as like this hour-long insane show.
