EMD SD40-2

Well, anyway, I'm real excited.

For me, what I've got here, this is one of the new Scale Trains SD40-2s that they did in the Missouri Pacific.

And I'm actually pretty happy with it.

It's an overall great model.

But I did this one conversion.

Now, they did six road numbers, and I bought all six of them because, of course, I did.

My switching layout, I have zero reason to have SD40-2s because it's a small branch line.

And then it's funny, like I was complaining about building six SD38-2s, and I've, I've got them all, '70 through '75, but the last one, I just...

Kato, for some reason, when they made the HO scale SD38-2, they made the fuel tank, th- those actually had the shorter fuel tanks, kind of like a Milwaukee SD40-2, and the fuel tank on them, the fuel tanks on the CNIM units were 17 feet long.

Well, the HO model is 18 feet, so guess what I did? Spent five hours hacking up the fuel tank and making it the right length.

So once we get this locomotive out of the package, what's the next thing you're looking at?

What I'll do is, uh, just g- kinda give it a once-over, and if it's a locomotive, uh, that I know a lot about, like let's say an SD40-2, I start looking at specific details that make it an SD40-2.

You know, I'll look at the long hood, I'll look at the dynamic brake grid, I'll look at the tooling of the doors on the hood.
