The best Elvis concert ever is the 68 Comeback Special.

Elvis decked out in black.
Steven CambianHOST
74:54
I think he was in black leather pants and a black leather jacket and just jet black hair.
Steven CambianHOST
75:00
And he looked his best ever.
Steven CambianHOST
75:04
And I think sounded his best ever in the 68 comeback special.
Steven CambianHOST
75:08
You can still watch it on YouTube.
Steven CambianHOST
75:10
It's one of his greatest concerts ever, in my opinion.

When Elvis did his '68 comeback special, TV show special, he had a special song that was supposed to be a message to the young people at the time, and was played at the end of the show, and it was a song called Follow That Dream.

And so the first one we have here of Springsteen covers Elvis is his version of Follow That Dream, a home demo in his own studio from January 30th, 1983.
WC ChroniclesHOST

He did release it eventually on Tracks Two, the Lost Albums collection of this past year on June 27th, 2025.

I collect...
WC ChroniclesHOST
17:52
I got into it because, you know, I was little.
WC ChroniclesHOST
17:55
I, just out of curiosity, I, I liked old '60s music at the, in the mid-'80s, and I bought some tapes, and I bought some albums and read up on, you know, learning about what Follow That Dream and the '68 Comeback Special was.
WC ChroniclesHOST
18:08
And the song really didn't really resonate [laughs] with me at the time, but now in the shoes of the age I'm wearing now, that song does kinda resonate for the times that we're in right now, I have to say.
TomHOST
14:18
But Lee, good on Lee for saying that.
TomHOST
14:20
Memories was written by Billy Strange and Mac Davis for the Elvis Comeback Special.
RossHOST
14:26
Mm.
TomHOST
14:26
Mac Davis was a fledgling songwriter at that time.
TomHOST
15:35
Just finish it, and we'll fucking use it."
RossHOST
15:37
Yeah.
TomHOST
15:37
And, uh, that's how that became a song in his Comeback Special, which you'd imagine, like, they would have planned this to perfection, but just to kind of go, "Right, okay, can you write a song and, uh, bring it to us tomorrow?"
RossHOST
15:50
Mm.
Mandy GonzalezGUEST
25:46
"You take him," like, for the night or whatever.
Mandy GonzalezGUEST
25:48
And with that, my dad would show us, uh, Elvis movies.
Jeffrey Scott ParsonsHOST
25:54
Oh.
Mandy GonzalezGUEST
25:54
So watched a lot of, like, Elvis Presley movies and, um, you know, a lot of them are very musical and, um, you know-
Jeffrey Scott ParsonsHOST
26:02
Absolutely.
Jeffrey Scott ParsonsHOST
26:03
Ann-Margret.
Mandy GonzalezGUEST
26:04
Oh, all Viva Las Vegas, like all of it.
Jeffrey Scott ParsonsHOST
26:06
The music, yes.
Steve AdlerHOST

Okay.

The first album that impacted my life, not necessarily the greatest impact, but the first album that impacted my life came out in, I believe it was released in 1969 or 70, but it was preceded by the television show, Elvis 68 Comeback Special on RCA Records.
Steve AdlerHOST
5:21
That... was my Beatles moment.

There's an old rhythm and blues type song called That's All Right, Little Mama, and we only had two or three instruments at the time.
