We had, of course, the Cow Palace and we had the Coliseum and different theaters and venues.

So again, it was Journey, Boston, Santana, Elvin Bishop, the Beach Boys.

I mean, it was a lot of concerts.

They had these special concerts during the summer called Day on the Green.

We had the 11 piece band, three horns and four singers.

And, um, On the cruise was Alvin Bishop's Big Fun Trio.

And we had played gigs with them before in Chicago.

And I mean, I knew Willie Jordan just a little bit, really.

It is from 1977.

We've got Alice Cooper, Heart, Doobie Brothers, ELO, Elvin Bishop, KC and the Sunshine Band, Boogie Fever, Livin' Thing.

Gosh, all kinds.

I love these kind of albums.

It's where we put an album on the turntable and we play this album side without any interruption.

In 2022, guitarist Anthony Pauly was performing with his soul orchestra on the legendary Blues Cruise when he hit it off with vocalist Willie Jordan, who had played with his good friend Elvin Bishop and for two years with John Lee Hooker.

Well, conversation turned into a full-fledged plan, and soon Willie joined the 12-piece soul orchestra as a vocalist, a gig he's had for the last four years.

They have a brand new album out titled What Can We Do? What can you do? Just keep doing what you do best.

Um, oh, no, Mickey Thomas came to my house one time in Montgomery and knocked on my door, and he, he said, "I came all the way from Cairo, Georgia, because I heard about you." And I was like, I, I, you know, and he already had, uh, some music on the radio.

He was playing with Elvin Bishop, and he said, "You should call Bobby Smith in Nashville.

They call him Smitty." Um, and so, uh, so I called him, and he said, "Come on up to Nashville.

I'm putting a band together, and I wanna, you know, build it around you." And I'm thinking, "I don't know anything.

When they called you to join the band, did I hear you were a little reluctant at first?

Well, yeah, because I was just coming out of the Elvin Bishop Band.

It was early 1979.
