And that was before Man City signed the Geordie Maradona, Elliot Anderson, a defensive midfielder so good they sold a Ballon d'Or winner to make sure Anderson had that pathway to the team.

I don't think Fernandes is the pick this week.

I don't think Fernandes is going to perform to the level that owners hope he will.

Yeah, those were kind of massive, huge upsets.

so I think the dynamic has changed a little bit for especially the local players but I think the big thing that the game might hinge on is Elliot Anderson he was Manchester United's top midfield target going into the summer at the start of the summer and United realised obviously that City were very highly interested in him too and they couldn't if they're going to buy Elliot Anderson they're going to pay 130 million and United needed not one midfielder they needed three or four midfielders and obviously they've spread the money out on Tielemans and on Baleba and And Andres Santos as well.

That's a strange one, by

the way.

He moves the ball between attack and offense.

He probably lets Bruno and Mbumo do the more flasher stuff.

But I think Elliot Anderson for Man City is the key and maybe where the game completely hinges on.

I think he's a good midfielder, but as maybe John Giles would say, he's not a great midfielder.

Remember, there's a lot of changes.

We're going to see Enzo and Elliot Anderson play together.

Let me give you two examples.

Since Enzo Maresca was appointed to replace Pep Guardiola, we've seen Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Reinders, Sevigno, Nico, Akanze, Aki and Trafford all leave with Elliot Anderson, Elamain N'Diaye, Enzo Fernandes and Bouhadi all coming in.

And similarly at Chelsea, Xabi Alonso has brought in 14 new players.

including Morgan Rodgers, Maxton Lacroix, Emi Fernandes, Danny Welbeck, Jordan Henderson.

They transferred them out.

partly because they needed the money to buy the new players and also to reduce the wage bill.

Now, the six biggest transfers when the window closed were Enzo Fernandes, Chelsea to Manchester City, $168 million, then Morgan Rodgers, Aston Villa to Chelsea, Elliot Anderson, Nottingham Forest to Manchester City, Bradley Barcola, PSG to Liverpool, Sandro Tonali, Newcastle to Spurs, Mateus Fernandes, West Ham to Tottenham.

All of those are $115 million or more.

If you've got Guardiola, Gehi, Ruben Diaz, Kusunov, perhaps.

You've got Enzo Fernandes coming into the team, who will sort of shield Elliot Anderson, who will shield when he's in that position, which will allow Fernandes to push.

And Bouadi

looks a great addition.

Man City have a new midfield, Kobe Manu in there.

And it may well be that it doesn't end up being close to their most difficult game, but I think in that stadium against a really decent team, they weren't full strength, but they still had people who could pose problems.

And I, I thought it was a really good selection from Maresca in the sense that took Elliot Anderson out but put Bouadi in.

Now, Bouadi hadn't started a game, but has started far more Champions League games and far more Euro- Hmm, well, he's played in the Europa League as well, so he's more experienced at this level than Anderson is, so take him out.

And Anderson was brilliant.

Starting 11 was Donnarumma, Kusinov, Diaz, Gehi, Vardial, Anderson, Enzo.

After a late injury and warm-ups to Nico O'Reilly, which I am hoping to hear some good news about tomorrow in Enzo Maresca's press conference.

Hopefully he, maybe not necessarily for this weekend, but, you know, hopefully he's on the mend and it's not too serious of an injury.

He scored his 300th club goal in 352 games.

Unbelievable.

I thought he should have had another goal or two in this match, uh, He had an insane through ball played by Shirky that deserved to be an assist that Elliot Anderson passed up to Shirky, who just took like a one touch with his right foot through his legs, that flicked it through to Erling, who was one-on-one with the keeper, and Rushworth made a really nice save.

Um, there was one earlier in the match in the 16th minute, I believe that Ryan Cherky just played him through.
