Mayuk and I have been friends for, I think we figured a decade, nearly a decade now.

And even though Mayuk is now a well-known film writer and always knew he was going to write about film and, you know, do film criticism and He took a minor detour and wrote about food for a little while, beautifully, might I add, about food.

And I have spent a lot of time writing about food, and I noticed his work, and I reached out to him just to let him know that I really liked what he was doing.

And we became friends, and we would have these long catch-up sessions.

Yeah, and something that Charlotte omitted in her very lovely kind of summary of the genesis of this book is that, you know, so much of Charlotte's expertise had been in managing these sorts of anthology projects.

So She was responsible for a book in 2019 called Women on Food, which I would encourage all listeners to check out as well.

And in that, what she did was she corralled all these different voices, all of these women who are working in food in various capacities, whether as chefs or food writers, what have you.

And it resulted in just this marvelous project that's sprawling.
