Certainly an expert in her field in that franchise.

Yeah.

And for whatever reason, I just passed on parts two through four when they hit the theaters.

And I think the reason why was I read about one of the choices that one made, which was the character of young Elise was going to be voiced by Lin Shay.

And there was something about that where I'm like, that just seems weird and I don't like it.

And there was enough to turn me off from seeing it.

Um, and I'm not sure what order they recorded each part in, but it, I thought it worked out really well.

And I think that helped kind of settle me in to, to it is, yeah, I can tell that's not Lindsay Schein speaking.

Um, But by the same token, like, I can tell it's supposed to be Elise, and that's, I think, what they're trying to convey.

How hard would it be to, like, I, which, I will say, I appreciate the track of thought there, which is, like, here's the character that we've established, and...

Uh, so she's raising Maya in her childhood home, uh, the, the home where she, Gemma, grew up, and she experiences a series, and continues to, of terrifying nightmares.

Now it's left to a tattooist called Claire, played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers, who channels a dead psychic medium in Elise Rainer, played by Lin Shaye, to explain to Gemma what's happening.

And, uh, Elise Rainer has appeared in all six Insidious movies, even though she died at the end of the first film.

So resurrection is her key.

Anyway, Cyrus, the, the malevolent entity, previously tried to bring back the dead through Gemma's mother, Ingrid, played by Laura Gordon, and that was in 1999.

Maybe it was one of the other sequels before Red Door.

But, like, there's one where we get flashbacks of Elise, like...

But what they did is they got an actress and then they put Lin Shay's voice dubbed over the actress.

I remember it was like really distracting.

I watched it once.

It also stars, of course, Lin Shay as Elise.

She's been in all the movies.

And if you are a horror fan, you know who Lin Shay is.

Now that's good.

Yeah.

But this gets short-circuited because who pops in? Who makes the appearance? Our girl, Elise.

Mm-hmm.

Another reason Thread might have been shelved is because we actually got some new lore expansions in Out of the Further that could be setting up that next installment.

Nanjiani and Mor's characters might want to pull their daughter out right before the accident happens, and they would need a character like Gemma who acts as a courier.

Maybe Out of the Further was prioritized in something that feels a little more similar to what we've gotten before in the past, but with this brand new idea for a character who can pull things out of the further.

Maybe this is a way for the franchise to dip its toe into the experimental pool before they go in headfirst.

Traumatized by the childhood memory of her mother Ingrid's brutal, unexplained suicide, Gemma begins experiencing unsettling surreal encounters, including eerie stalkings by three elderly figures near her home, and accidentally discovers she can somehow project into the realm of the dead.

After pulling a physical object back from the spirit plane into reality, Gemma encounters the spirit of medium Elise Rainier, played once again by Lynn Shea, who directs her to a medium named Claire, played by Maisie Richardson Sellers.

Claire reveals that Gemma is a rare courier, a projector possessing the power to carry objects and entities across the threshold from the Further directly into the living world.

Gemma learns that her ability is being targeted by Cyrus Lamb, played by Sam Spruill, a sinister, blindfolded cult leader residing in the Further who plans to use her power to resurrect his legion of dead followers into the physical world.
