That wa- And it genuinely was the golden ticket.

I'm, I'm sort of being facetious when I said that, but it was genuinely, we were the sort of envy of Edinburgh and, like, uh, there were a couple of acts like me and James Acaster and John Robins and Ellis James, we had our f- initial Edinburghs paid for.

And I think that, you know, it did, it was, it was a sound investment because we then all ended up making enough money to be able to pay that off.

Um, it, you know, it's like, it's such a boring thing, but any time we have to have any conversation about the arts at the moment, whether it's music or comedy, we have to start with, "Fuck me, it's bad." [laughs]

It's exclusively there for my benefit.

How do you go about writing? I know a few comedians have different processes.

I remember meeting up with Ellis James before he was about to g- uh, do a tour, and he was telling me that he had a note on his phone that was something like-

And you're not quite sure who's taking you to school.

[laughs] You're noted for your partnership with Ellis James.

If the two of you were to manage a football club, what, how would you divvy up the responsibilities-

A, did you, and B, did you?

Two women came up to, asking me to be number 3,001 and 3,002, and then Ellis James offered to be number 3,003 on a podcast about 40 years later.

Yeah.

Mike Bird has demanded to see my fucking workings.

Yeah.

Now, Ellis James is a wonderful man.

He's also your husband.

And...

It feels like Peep Show is sometimes quite siloed off from the rest of TV comedy for some reason, which I find quite interesting.

uh she's uh she plays the guitar she was in a prog rock band growing up called infinite drift which i love um also chloe pets was in a christian rock band growing up great facts great facts both um izzy uh frequently performs with the musician jim bob um and was is also um married to uh ellis james uh who who's does a radio show and podcast with john robbins uh of course been on the show before um but also the other fun fact about uh izzy is that as she is um married to alice she's been learning welsh and she is now relatively proficient at Welsh which makes her the most bilingual cast member of this series I would say she appears on an S4C show which is the Welsh broadcaster as a Welsh learner being taught in like a sitcom thing being taught by a character played by Ellis James which is a nice little thing Ellis James is great by the way and Izzy and Ellis' relationship seems very sweet they are they're lovely lovely i knew her of

course when she was going out with john oliver and they both came out to my

Everyone's trying to be cool when they're a teenager or not get noticed, like, whatever it is to make it okay.

But I think I was talking to Ellis James years ago, who's a Welsh comic, and he was saying, he was talking about being a teenager and he said, he goes, and of course it was cutting edge because you're never more cutting edge than when you are a teenager, right? I was like, oh, yeah, because you don't know.

You don't have a lifetime of disappointments, of rejections, of people telling you what's good and what's not.
