Elijah Alexander

And, and I was in the Book of Daniel hundreds of times growing up because of that, and just longing to have 1% of his steadfastness and humility.

And, um, you know, i- we've also talked a lot about how a lot of the things about scripture is, uh, the verse that we keep coming back to is that beautiful verse in James, "Elijah was a man just like us."

Mm-hmm.

Because sometimes we've, we've noted, and, and we're guilty of this as well, we idolize these quote, unquote, "saints of scripture." And they, they are saints because, like, we're saints because of the blood of Christ, but it's like the way that they're idolized there, there can be a flaw and a fault there because they were people just like us.

... what we tried to do was-

Yeah

... just really wrestle with, like- If these really were people like us, if these really were like Elijahs, men like us, you know [laughs] then-

Sure

We got a great treat for, um, for you, uh, 'cause I know how much of a Chosen fan you are, but we got a treat for you and our audience.

Uh, actor Elijah Alexander.

Oh.

You probably know him from Atticus, um, or as Atticus from The Chosen, and you're about to know him as the actor playing King Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel in the Fiery Furnace, in theaters September 18th.

Elijah, welcome to the podcast.

Good, thanks, and God bless.

Pleasure to be here.

All right.

He says to Daniel that he's very audacious.

And of course, Elijah Alexander delivers that in such a, uh, Elijah Alexander way.

Um, but it's audacious to do a film of any scale, and I think to do a film overseas with half the crew that don't speak your language, um, with, you know, 300 to 400 people on any given day, um, between extras.

You know, we had, we had a costume department, and then we had a extras costume department, [laughs] and they were hand making costumes at 2:00 in the morning until 7:00 AM when we were, you know...

So many biblical movies have a mostly like a white cast.

So how did you, how important was it to you to cast people like Elijah Alexander, who is so opposite as the king or so opposite, but fantastic as the king?

Yeah, well, I just have Egyptian as well, actually.

So we're both, we both have Egyptian blood.

That's how they got that off the ground.

And now they're moving into other aspects of biblical, uh, storytelling and the daniel and the fiery furnace is one of their first opportunities for that and i had a chance to talk with mina masood who plays daniel he was aladdin in the live action version of aladdin and elijah alexander who plays king nebuchadnezzar um in this and what this whole process is like and what it is for them and it has been very altering so if you would here's the interview with mina and elijah

There's a huge push.

And I even think that Elijah Alexander, who played King Nebuchadnezzar, who was also in The Chosen.
