Eliezer Waldenberg

Some halachic authorities have concluded that using spermicides violates the prohibition of Hashchatat Zera, taking the view that a woman is culpable for Hashchatat Zera as well as a man.

For example, in a 1976 responsum, Rev Eliezer Waldenberg was reluctant to permit their use for this reason.

He wrote in Sit Eliezer nine fifty-one, Kontros Refuah B'Mishpacha, "דהמשחה או האבקה והפטילה הרי משחיתים הזרע מיד עם כניסתם לשם.

הרי דב"ז שדעתו שסימת מוך קודם תשמיש שבפעולה זה כסימת המשחה ורק שם יוצא שלא כדרך תשמיש.

So this gets to the whole question of what do we protect against and what don't we protect against, and how do we decide what we protect against, and that's a broader topic.

But in this situation, the Tutsis are understanding that these authorities saw it over here.

And the Taz happens to be, that it seems to be, as the person writing to the Tutsis, who the Tutsis are responding to his essay, had said, the Taz, earlier in that same chapter, So when people got to do themselves in the same chapter, you certainly think there's an issue because people don't generally forget so quickly.

He also, I think, was a, he was a related to Revolver, I think, Revolver, who is about 42 years younger than Rebbe HaZoch Frank.

I think he married a granddaughter.
