It's also getting really positive buzz from some unexpected areas.

The New York Times' Eli Tan recently published a piece that was very surprising to many.

It was called I Gave My Life Over to Meta's AI Agent and Was Blown Away.

But I [laughs] but I, but, like, this is...

I had a co- I have a colleague, Eli Tan, who covers Meta now, um, and he used, uh, Muse for the past week or so, I wanna say, and he was like, "This is incredible.

This thing has actually changed parts of my life.

It's dealing with a bunch of BS that I don't wanna deal with on the regular." And I, I mean, I recoil just because of the amount of control he had to give over to these agents, to, to the, to the bot that's controlling his life now, or that's assisting his life now.

He added that Meta has already made the commitment to move at a pace required to train its model safely, and that other labs can do so as well.

The Gates Foundation on Monday pledged to spend at least $1 billion over the next two years to expand global access to AI and use it to tackle social inequalities.

The foundation's annual Goalkeepers Report advocated an urgent effort to ensure AI helps narrow gaps between the richest and poorest, rather than widening them.

The outcome effectively ends a federal trial in which California, Colorado, Kentucky, and New Jersey were seeking some $200 billion over accusations that Meta harmed children.

The New York Times' Cecilia Kang and Eli Tan reported, the company and a major capitalization, agreed to pay penalties for violating the state's consumer protection and federal child safety laws.

It will also place limits on how long young people can use the platforms each day, silence notification during school hours, and interrupt in the scrolling among other changes.

Matter will immediately pay $12 billion and will pay an additional $5 billion penalty if other social media platforms like TikTok and Snap also settle with states and make changes to their products.

Then, as its legal losses mounted, the social media giant's new top lawyer brought a huge settlement to the table by Cecilia Kang and Eli Tan.

Six days before the start of a federal trial over online child safety, C.J. Mahoney, Metta's chief legal officer, traveled to Nashville on August 6 to meet with lawyers for about a dozen states.

He wanted to broker an enormous settlement, two people familiar with the conversation said.

Meta on Wednesday reached a landmark settlement with 47 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories, agreeing to pay up to $17.1 billion in penalties and make major changes to its products over claims it endangered children with addictive social media platforms.

In a dramatic capitulation, the owner of Facebook and Instagram agreed to the financial penalties for violating federal child privacy and state's consumer protection laws, the states announced.
