Battery electric trucks will have a lower total cost of ownership than diesel trucks on 70% to 90% of routes travelled in Germany on heavy-duty road freight transport by 2030.

That's using baseline assumptions about costs and technology.

It has not named customers beyond Amazon, nor said whether the order status stands firm, depending on delivery timing.

But they've got 75 electric trucks in their fleet already.

So it's amazing to see that expanding.

The government isn't simply just, uh, getting the checkbook out and cutting a check for $400 million for businesses to buy battery electric prime movers.

The money is conditional funding for states and territories to implement a broader set of heavy vehicle reforms.

However, several of those reforms directly target problems that have been holding electric trucks back.

One is mass and road access rules.
