Has that been a good experience being secondhand? I can't imagine really a reason why it's negative because electric cars don't really have the mechanical parts issues that petrol cars do.

A brilliant series if you haven't seen it, set in the 60s with most of the execs still wearing hats.

So whilst that's an interesting story, you may be asking, well, what's it got to do with electric cars? Well, this is a great example of upstream thinking.

The small shops and milliners, along with the various other men's hat outlets, have been advertising their own style of hats with little or no success.

What had to happen was to convince people, and in particular men, that they wanted a hat in the first place.

The friend turned and said, I'm going up the river to find out who's throwing the children into the river in the first place and put a stop to it.

And that is a perfect and very simple explanation of upstream thinking.

So moving on to something completely unrelated.

Russian manufacturing firm X wheeled out a retro-looking electric car in 2018, which it said would give Elon Musk's Tesla a run for its money.

The company said in a statement that the CV1 car featured a number of complex systems with technology that would let us stand in the ranks of global electric car producers such as Tesla.

It added that when fully developed, the car would have a top speed several times higher than the current electric vehicles produced by its firm and would be able to travel 220 miles, or 350 kilometers, on a single charge.

The firm presented the eggshell blue prototype vehicle, the CV1, at an event near the capital, Moscow.

So in 2018, the company unveiled the CV1, which is an eggshell blue electric car prototype based on the Soviet era Izh Kombi hatchback.

Now, there's been a strong conversation over recent months about, um, privacy, data security, and a range of things in electric cars, and I'll, I'll say it, a lot of the headlines are about Chinese cars.

The, the, the media loves to beat up a Chinese car.

... and a, and a hybrid and an electric.

The CLA is in those models and those variants.

And so I actually genuinely think, and this is not a slight on Mercedes' previous electric cars.

I remember at the very first EQC launch I went to in Berlin and, and again in, in Melbourne, that was a great car.
