Electric Bastionland

This is our 12th and final session of Electric Bastionland on the Open Hearth.

Uh, we are down Cindy for about half an hour, but ideally, uh, it'll show back up soon.

Uh, but we ha- we have, uh, Dent as a replacement.

Yeah

... narrow, you know, and GURPS is different.

So I've had a lot of different experiences, but, um, there are so many games that I own the PDF for, [laughs] and I'm finally getting to play a few of them, and some of the ones that I'm really interested in too, 'cause both, uh, Best- or, uh, O- Ultra Violet Grasslands and Bestion Land, Electric Bastionland were two of the, the, the games I was most interested in.

Um, a- and I will say, Mark, uh, once again that I, I don't know that I could ever run, uh, Ultra Violet Grasslands, 'cause that was so well done.

Like I always remember reading the back of Dungeon Master Guides and Monster Manuals and being like, oh, I really want to use this.

level 20 magic item or whatever but then thinking i can barely get like a one-shot game together or like a short campaign there's no way i'm ever gonna like play in a game that has like a wish spell So in Electric Bastion, I think there's a number of items where you can essentially start with a kind of a wish of some sort.

I think Into the Odd is already a game where you can have the arcana, which are pretty powerful.

Yeah, I think there's one of those you can start with that has a limited form of wish.

So to be honest, like I say, most of the games that I play, like in my home game, have always been either one-shots or short campaigns.

I haven't run a lot of long campaigns.

So in writing Into the Yard and Electric Bastionland, I think you can use those games for long campaigns, and I've heard of people doing this.

But I wanted to make it primary.

If you allow me this little digression.

In a blog post, Chris McDowell of Electric Bastionland and Mythic Bastionland fame wrote about how any rule you have in a game needs to earn its keep.

And if it doesn't, you kill your darling.

And I feel that actions in most games and for sure in most Fortnite Dark games are those very killable darlings.

Um, we are back after a harrowing [laughs] escape from the, uh, from the gargauth.

Uh, we started off with, uh, what was almost assuredly a TPK.

Like, punches the, punches the button and there's, you know, um, whatever, like the worst generic Bastionland can be is-

... uh, like the, the Cir- the Circus peanuts of Ele- [laughs] Electric Bastionland.
