El Loco

It just doesn't sound like ZZ Top to me.

Sonically, it reminds me most of what was to come later on with El Loco, Eliminator, etc.

It's not a good thing in my book.

This can take a long walk off a short pier.

I really like it.

It comes before all the drum machine synthesizer period that this band took, and every song is good, I think, and it's worth repeat listens.

This is definitely a transitional album for ZZ Top, one that would be further elaborated on two years later with El Loco.

This is definitely not the ZZ Top heard on everything up through Tejas, but it's also not the reinvented ZZ Top that would take over radio and MTV in the early part of the 80s and ride that wave until they turned up as Justin mentioned, the band in Back to the Future 3. doing the hee-haw renditions of their double-backed tune.

So, like, Deguayo was probably, and El Loco were the albums that, like, I was, they were probably contemporary.

Uh-huh.

Tejas, is that how they say it? Or Tejas? Tejas, I believe.

Deguayo has cheap sunglasses and I thank you.

So those songs were really big on the radio at the time.

El Loco was a transitional record right before the MTV explosion that happened with him.

But anyways, Frank Beard, Dusty Hill and Billy Gibbons were like...

It happened.

But they went on a real tear, though, you know, because they come in with Degueyo and El Loco and then Eliminator.

And the next one, Afterburner, was still solid, still solid.

And even, I mean, they jokingly called the next one Recycler, you know, after a three-year break.
