Fraser GregoryGUEST
60:36
Yeah.
Joe FordHOST
60:36
Joanna Lu- [laughs] Okay, I've gotta tell you a story, right? 'Cause the writers of The Eighth Doctor was clearly were...
Joe FordHOST
60:42
Had a great love for this.
Joe FordHOST
60:44
So there's a short story in the anthology party like it's 1998, and, um, they're in the middle of this adventure, and then the, a blonde Doctor Who turns up, and [laughs] you absolutely think it's Jodie Whittaker, right? And then [laughs] sort of dressed, describing how she's dressed, and I'm going, "Who the fuck's that?" And I'm waiting...
Baz GreenlandHOST
22:04
Morbius is one of those other ancient evil Time Lords who came back again.
Baz GreenlandHOST
22:09
He, I, I think, I mean, the Eighth Doctor, Dinny faced him in, um, Big Finish, Luke Tamara.
Ben GreenlandHOST
22:12
Yeah, I believe, like, someone find, might even be the sister, would find the brain at the bottom of the cliff and he comes back, but actually in a proper Time Lord body.
Ben GreenlandHOST
22:21
And then, yeah-

28 MINS LATER

Matt DennisGUEST
50:18
They're like, "We wanted to kill a Time Lord today, and God damn it, we will kill a Time Lord," [laughs] whether it's the Doctor or Morbius.
Baz GreenlandHOST
50:24
Absolutely, yeah.
Ben GreenlandHOST
50:26
His brains be indestructible though, 'cause as I said, you know, there's an Eighth Doctor two-parter where like, yeah, they find his brain at the bottom of a cliff and use that to properly resurrect Morbius, and it's like this dude's brain has been knocked so many ways now.
Ben GreenlandHOST
50:40
[laughs]
Joe FordHOST
47:30
...
Joe FordHOST
47:30
No, whenever I imagine reading Fitz Kreiner in the Eighth Doctor books, I just see Mr. Lucas.
Mark RawlinsGUEST
47:35
What?
Joe FordHOST
47:35
I don't know.
David J. HoweGUEST
61:10
So hopefully we'll have copies, copies of the book there.
David J. HoweGUEST
61:12
Um, as the graphic there says, uh, Reece C. Pontif, who's the author of our Leap of Eight, the Eighth Doctor, kind of, I call it a guide, although it's not really a guide to the Eighth Doctor.
David J. HoweGUEST
61:21
It's, it's a book all about the, the, the Eighth Doctor in extended media.
David J. HoweGUEST
61:25
So i- it's, it's like a background, behind the scenes look at the Big Finish audios, the novellas, the novels, the books, the comic strips, talking to all the creators and everything like that.
Dan HadleyHOST
61:34
Brilliant.
AidanHOST
13:45
The most interesting one was the Time Lord Victorious and even then nothing really happened.
AidanHOST
13:51
I'd like to see one centered on Paul McGann's Eighth Doctor or David Bradley's First Doctor.
AidanHOST
13:57
This contradicts itself I find.
ConnorHOST
13:59
This is like half right, half wrong.
John S. DrewHOST
48:18
I think they could.
Jim BeardHOST
48:20
Do they acknowledge that the Master returned in this manner and the Eighth Doctor fought him No.
Jim BeardHOST
48:32
In America.
John S. DrewHOST
48:33
No.
John S. DrewHOST
48:52
Okay.
John S. DrewHOST
48:53
Because, I mean, you know what I mean?
Jim BeardHOST
48:55
It's kind of a big... uh thing you know in as far as in the care in the history of the character of the doctor um they okay you know they embrace and acknowledge the fact that this is the eighth doctor right uh played by paul mccann you know um they had to cobble together an ending for this doctor, you know, of course, and he really only has one real filmed adventure, you know, but, but because of the segue from seventh to eighth, you know, this matters, um, But, you know, look, I mean, and it happened in the United States in the fiction of the, you know, the movie.
Jim BeardHOST
49:43
The master became an American for a very short time.

12:22
uh
Michael NixonGUEST
12:22
so if you're going to include this there is a stronger argument to include all of the big finishes which is an argument that and i'm going to bring emily in right here includes the eighth doctor short story night of the doctor in which he blatantly mentions some but specifically not all misses some of the later ones oddly would you guess uh big finish companions um canonizing that so yeah I regret to inform you, if you're going to include this, you have to include all of Big Finish.
Becca McGlynnHOST
12:54
Now, I want to...
Becca McGlynnHOST
12:56
Now,
Michael NixonGUEST
16:37
dimensions yeah there's a lot happening on that one
Emily HenryGUEST
16:41
that's fair that's i mean honestly i probably wouldn't like that either so
Michael NixonGUEST
16:45
So I guess the positive of not including Big Finish in the stitches and time edit, just to circle back to my point, is you won't have to include all 400 hours of the Eighth Doctor having amnesia.
Michael NixonGUEST
16:59
So that's a plus.
Joe FordHOST
29:45
Why didn't she stay there?
Mark DonaldsonGUEST
29:46
Well, she's a popular companion, 'cause she's had, like, six series of the Robots, and she's been in, like, countless Eighth Doctor stories.
Joe FordHOST
29:52
Actually, the Robots was surprisingly good, wasn't it?
Mark DonaldsonGUEST
29:53
And the Robots was very good for her-
Joe FordHOST
30:51
It would make a great audio drama.
Mark DonaldsonGUEST
30:54
Oh.
Mark DonaldsonGUEST
30:54
Phwoar, um, books, I'm gonna stick with a, with an Eighth Doctor one, and say Vampire Science.
Joe FordHOST
31:00
Oh, yes.
JohnstonHOST
27:59
And there's quite a few reasons for that.
JohnstonHOST
28:03
um as i said at the start i mean i i really do like rufus hound's monk i i think he's just so wonderfully sort of wild and offbeat but definitely has the characteristics of the monk that we originally saw in the 60s and um the stuff that we get from graham garden the eighth doctor adventures as well um i really like what they've done with rufus hound's monk like he's He's a comedy character.
JohnstonHOST
28:30
I mean, the monk in general is a comedy character that can very, very suddenly get very, very sinister.
JohnstonHOST
28:37
And Rufus Hound does that very, very well.
ConnorHOST
31:07
And you get the line in this about the brassy bird from Blackpool.
ConnorHOST
31:13
It's just like, oh, he does know that.
ConnorHOST
31:15
And he was just trying not to be in the Eighth Doctor's bad books.
ConnorHOST
31:19
But that doesn't have to be a thing here.
MarkHOST
11:24
Oh, that one, yeah.
MarkHOST
11:25
So, Eighth Doctor, he's out of the Divergent Universe.
MarkHOST
11:28
Is he? But I think this was, I mean, I think it's quite obvious that this was originally a Divergent Universe script.
James LarkGUEST
11:37
It's got that divergent universe blandness about it, hasn't it?

5 MINS LATER

James LarkGUEST
16:45
They've got a sense of humor.
MarkHOST
16:47
So he submitted this with It Can Be a Doctor and Two Companions.
MarkHOST
16:51
He didn't write it for The Eighth Doctor and Charlie and Careers.
MarkHOST
16:54
It says in the booklet.
