Ed Masry

Erin, who is played by Julia Roberts, is a single mother of three living in Los Angeles.

She's been injured in a car crash, and Erin's attorney, Ed Masry, believes they have a strong case and that she's more than likely to receive a decent settlement.

But things go sideways in court, and Erin manages to let her temper get the best of her, and she loses the case.

Masry, who's played by Albert Finney, has begun dodging his client's phone calls.

He describes it as a real estate deal.

But upon further investigation, Aaron notices there are medical records mixed in with the stacks of paperwork.

When you watched this movie the first time, you may not have noticed the casual manner with which Ed Masry plans to manage this case.

He basically drops a banker's box of documents on Aaron's desk and is like, here, file this.

So that was a great question.

When Ed Masry brought me the file way back in the day, I was 31 years old, single mom of three.

And he put the file on my desk.

He asked me to open a PI file.

They're using their size to intimidate people not to sue them.

But Erin, working with a lawyer named Mazri, played by Albert Finney, used the law and her power of persuasion in order to overcome this giant behemoth company.

In the process, she loses time with her family and ultimately her boyfriend when her fight-the-power objectives are too inconvenient for him when he simply wants her to stick around and pay attention to him.

Another example of a character fighting the establishment is Jack Nicholson's McMurphy from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest from 1975.

Great movie.

Albert Finney plays Ed Masry, and he was in Murder on the Iron Express.
