The only instance she cared to give us of a sailor who is not to be admired is Mary Crawford's uncle, the admiral, and even he is allowed to earn our esteem by disinterested kindness to William Price.

No doubt some of this enthusiasm was due to the spirit of the times when, as Edward Ferrars says, the Navy had fashion on its side.

But that sisterly partiality was a stronger element.

think Edward Ferrars, played here by George Mackay, there was a lot of chemistry there.

So the other couple is, you know, is quite sparky.

Yes, that's Eleanor with Edgar.

It is starring Daisy Edgar Jones as Eleanor.

It's starring Esme Creed Miles as Marianne, George Mackay as Edward.

It's also starring Fiona Shaw as Mrs. Jennings, who you may know as Aunt Petunia in the original Harry Potter series.

Three sisters experience love and heartbreak after they're forced to leave their family estate with their widowed mother and move to a humble cottage.

And how do you live with that? relying on men which is often which is really the position the Dashwood women find themselves in very quickly and it's very unfortunate for them that their half-brother is not going to look out for them is a real problem because as you say you know the men in this novel um all have secrets.

The three romantic interests in this novel, Edward Ferrars, Colonel Brandon and Willoughby, all carry secrets.

So another kind of vulnerability that these women face is they're forced to enter into relationships with men who they know very little about.

who we will find out with the heroine some quite disturbing things about.

This circumstance was a growing attachment between her eldest girl and the brother of Mrs. John Dashwood, a gentleman-like and pleasing young man who was introduced to their acquaintance soon after his sister's establishment at Norland, and who had since spent the greatest part of his time there.

Some mothers might have encouraged the intimacy from motives of interest, for Edward Ferrars was the eldest son of a man who had died very rich, and some might have repressed it from motives of prudence, for, excepting a trifling sum, the whole of his fortune depended on the will of his mother.

But Mrs. Dashwood was alike uninfluenced by either consideration.

It was enough for her that he appeared to be amiable, that he loved her daughter, and that Eleanor returned the partiality.

It was contrary to every doctrine of hers that difference of fortune should keep any couple asunder who were attracted by resemblance of disposition, and that Eleanor's merit should not be acknowledged by everyone who knew her was, to her comprehension, impossible.

Edward Ferrars was not recommended to their good opinion by any peculiar graces of person or address.

He was not handsome, and his manners required intimacy to make them pleasing.

He was too diffident to do justice to himself, but when his natural shyness was overcome, his behavior gave every indication of an open, affectionate heart.

emotions and it's a masterclass in yearning, which I also feel like the 1995 Sense and Sensibilities, like Colonel Brandon yearning, Edward yearning, both of them being so like, I must stay buttoned up, but I love her so much.

it's an Eleanor yearning and Marianne yearning.

It's just, it's a, it's beautiful.

So we're getting all the character development up front.

Well, that's not to say all, but we're getting some great character development up front.

And then Edward Fares comes to Norland.
