Martin, credit to you.

You were putting together this outline here for the podcast tonight, and one of the players, I guess, that stood out to you in my rankings was Edward Florentino.
Matt HeckmanHOST
6:36
He was up eight spots in the September update.
Matt HeckmanHOST
6:38
He's now ranked 22nd.
Matt HeckmanHOST
6:40
Part of that move up is graduation-based.
Matt HeckmanHOST
6:43
Like I said, this article is players prospects who have yet to debut and so I know after August's update we had also I did Paula got promoted Walker Jenkins got promoted so that pushed him up a couple spots but honestly I was really encouraged by what Florentino showed during the second half of the season got off to a slow start everybody was really ready to buy in um to him being a top 10 prospect He struggled in the first half.
Matt HeckmanHOST
7:11
Second half, he really started to put it together.
Matt HeckmanHOST
7:13
What stood out to me, though, the most was his reduced strikeout rate as the season went along.
Alex StumpfHOST
16:24
That was the whole point of this entire season, to win in 2026.
Alex StumpfHOST
16:28
And that doesn't mean bankrupting the farm and trading Seth Hernandez and Edward Florentino and everything, but it does mean winning now is a priority.
Alex StumpfHOST
16:40
Because you stated at the start of the year, it was the goal.
Alex StumpfHOST
16:47
Quote, period, full stop, end quote.
Chris WelshHOST
20:21
But, I mean, I pretty much only got Dylan Lewis, and I whiffed on the Pirates.
Chris WelshHOST
20:25
Edward Florentino, Murph Gray.
Chris WelshHOST
20:27
Nope, nope.
Chris WelshHOST
20:28
I absolutely stunk on that team, so straight up F.
Chris BlessingHOST
23:42
But yes, de Grand Prix is...
Chris BlessingHOST
23:47
he he wasn't comfortable in in the box against him but even if he wasn't uncomfortable for a 19 year old still battle was something that really resonated with me because i watched it with edward florentino from the left side a few few weeks later where he was absolutely destroyed by any left on left spin that he faced at a similar age and similar level and where um florentino has been ranked a lot higher on these rankings than Gonzalez.
Chris BlessingHOST
24:20
I felt like at that point, after seeing both of them, I was like, all right, yes, Florentino would be on a good side of the platoon, but here's a guy that's a right-handed hitter that – is adjusting um and is trying to find a way against uh right-handed spin so i don't know what his his numbers were against uh breaking pitches uh other than what you just uh just said but i think that was a big noticeable difference where i took two players yes one left one right but guys that were known for their power and was like all right gonzalez might actually be the better fantasy prospect than florentino where florentino I don't know where you're at with Florentino, but that's kind of what I saw out of a three-game look on each of them in person.
Geoff PontesGUEST
25:13
Yeah, I didn't really like Florentino when he was hot last year.
Anthony MurphyGUEST
3:10
I mean, you have, I mean, he's injured right now, but Seth Hernandez wa- was there.
Anthony MurphyGUEST
3:15
Um, Edward Florentino, top 50, top 100 prospect.
Anthony MurphyGUEST
3:19
Wyatt Sanford, one of the better breakout players i- in the system this year.
Gary MorganHOST
3:24
Right.

7 MINS LATER

Anthony MurphyGUEST
10:42
But, like, also, you're talking maybe one of the, uh, more elite closers in all of baseball with that kind of fastball.
Anthony MurphyGUEST
10:49
So-
Gary MorganHOST
10:49
So let, let's talk a little Edward Florentino.
Gary MorganHOST
10:52
I mean, he's, he's come up with some really big moments recently.
Eric CrossHOST
53:10
Last guy we're talking about here was a guy that entered the season with a lot of hype after the way he performed last year, but it's kind of been kind of dulled a little bit this year, but he has gotten it going here lately.
Eric CrossHOST
53:23
That's Edward Florentino with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Eric CrossHOST
53:28
Over his last 25 games, he's hitting .258, .418, .656 with 10 home runs, five doubles as well.
Eric CrossHOST
53:38
More walks than strikeouts, too.
Tobey SchulmanHOST
54:49
It's just like the swing is just made to just launch home runs.
Tobey SchulmanHOST
54:52
And when you pair his just feel for walking and his feel for just not chasing outside of the zone – Still a fun player for me to kind of just watch on a game-to-game basis, and I know you said he hasn't ran as much this season, but was he going to run that much when he made it to the highest level? I mean, I think that was certainly something to think about, too.
Tobey SchulmanHOST
55:13
The power here is the calling card with Edward Florentino, and I mean, he's not lost that one bit.
Eric CrossHOST
55:20
No, he's definitely tapped into that power more than he did last year.
