You were seriously attacked by an elephant? I was.

So my parents moved to a town called Edgewater, Florida, and they basically were in these manufactured homes.

It was like in a little community.

They just carved out a piece of the forest or the woods or whatever and built this community.

The arrest produced a brief legal proceeding and nothing more durable.

In 1976, she was convicted of armed robbery in Edgewater, Florida, sentenced to three years in prison, and served less than a year before release.

This is the conviction that would eventually provide the outstanding warrant that gave investigators a low-key pretext for her arrest in January 1991, a connection across 15 years of a life that remained, throughout, in a kind of suspended crisis.

Also in 1976, she married Louis Fell, a 69-year-old yacht club president from Florida.

I wasn't used to this type of money.

So my next deal after that was a probate deal, and what had happened was I got a deal under contract in Edgewater, Florida.

It was like a non-conforming lot, so it looked kinda weird.

And I went to a real estate event, and I met a probate attorney, Al Nicoletti, and I kinda told him what was going on.
