You're doing Storm games, obviously, man.

So I just can't tell you, and I know that you guys agree with this, and I wish there was another way to say it, how just completely bizarre Bummed out I am that they could never get that guy to a World Series, that they could never get Dave Niehaus, they could never get Felix Hernandez or Ken Griffey Jr. or Edgar Martinez to a World Series.

Here comes this year's Yankee killer, Edgar Martinez Jr. Juan Gonzalez, the pitch is a strike.

And that time, Pettit's pitch was low on the outside corner.

We looked up in between the innings, and I'll tell you what Gonzalez did against the Yanks this year, so this is not all of a sudden.

What's a little funky is

where I think there was the most alignment was between Dan and Edgar, right? I mean, that to me is probably where there was the most alignment.

And Edgar's name has been largely left out of this conversation because he's Edgar and that's understandable.

I can't imagine Edgar Martinez coming back as the director hitting after another year in which it just disappoints.

So, you know, it's not just Dan to me.

It's the coaching staff underneath.

And I would be very surprised if Kevin Seitzer is back, if Edgar is back.

I know they already moved on from Bobby Magliana.

And the lack of performance, too, from a number of guys.

But, you know, when he took over the job with Edgar two years ago in August of 24, they were on their way to setting all kinds of records with strikeouts and they went 23 and 11.

And last year with Danny, they go 90 and 72 and they win the West.

You know, and so, you know, it was a tough year for Dan.

But it's all because of David House, who got me here in 1983.

And thank God, thank God he got me back in 1995 for the greatest season in the history of this franchise.

Because those guys, Ken Griffey Jr., Jay Buhner, Dan Wilson, Mike Flowers, Edgar Martinez, Randy Johnson, those guys saved baseball in Seattle.

I wouldn't be here right now talking with you if it wasn't for those guys.

I mean, it's the top two, top three judges in there.

But if you want to maximize it the rest of the way and you want him to be fully, fully healthy, okay, and you want him to just be a hitter to crush people in an Edgar Martinez, David Ortiz type of way, No, this year, no more, no more.

Exactly.

Because you need, I wouldn't risk it.

Oh, for sure.

Edgar Martinez is the perfect example.

He is the all-time DH.

Remember when that was a... debate was oh can a dh make the hall of fame yeah because he waited a minute yeah and then made it in now she's like oh yep cool yeah everybody again

It feels like that he's, you know, had this sort of tenure with the Mariners that has earned that.

Is he Ken Griffey Jr.? You know, is he Edgar Martinez? Uh, Randy Johnson? Is he in that realm? No, you know, in terms of what he accomplished.

But he's always b- gonna be someone who's gonna be welcomed back by the fans.
