Eden Quay

The organisers of the march had at first been scared but were overwhelmed by the show of public support.

They marched from Liberty Hall on Eden Quay to Fairview Park, passing right through the neighbourhoods of Declan's killers.

It was the first time that it was seen on a national level that being gay had a valid existence in Ireland.

Before Declan had been killed, homosexuality had been pushed so far under the carpet that it wasn't even acknowledged.
