Eden Lake

I was like, what the hell are you doing there? Weren't you...

you were in Walford like two years ago what the fuck so yeah there's Cliffhanger but also like if Cliffhanger had a baby with Silence of the Lambs you'd basically get most of what you you see in this film the only thing you wouldn't really see is the whole cat and mouse we're going to track you down and kill you and that's where Eden Lake would come in and And yeah, those are my three.

I think I'll probably go for probably Eden Lake.

Just because I've got a reputation to uphold of only picking movies that... fall within a very small and very narrow uh range of uh of what i've already seen and uh and talked about

multiple times only picky movies that leave you with absolutely no faith left in humanity because that's what you

yeah yeah yeah i i'm gonna ruin as many people's day as i can by having them watch eden lake not because it's not a good movie but just because it will leave you emotionally bereft um But yeah, the fact that it's a woman...

And you can say this about a lot of Scream Queen final girl movies.

It's a woman finding the inner strength to survive an ordeal and coming out on top and still being massively emotionally damaged at the end of the movie, but still being able to put a smile on her face.

That would have been so horrific of an ending.

That's an Eden Lake ending.

That's a martyr's ending.

Which would have been

awesome, but I don't think you would think of this movie the same way if it had a downer ending like that.

So I think that was the right decision, especially in light of everything that was happening and all the shootings and stuff.

But it's like it just goes hardcore to where at the end you're like, man, you don't leave happy.

Let's just say that you're not upset like an Eden Lake type of thing, but you're just like, oh, wow.

But Bunny Rabbit, I mean, it was well done.

Looks awesome.

I mean, every time I watch this film, I almost like prepare myself for this ending.

At number eight, I'm going to go with Eden Lake.

And Eden Lake is the type of film that builds the tension up over and over and over again throughout the film.

And you have this couple that were terrorized by these young people, absolutely terrorized.

And they go through all of this crap, all of this crap.

Don't forget about that one.

I've been wanting to pick this for a while, to be fair, and obviously just coupled with Matt's kind of Thomas Turgot story from his holidays.

So we're kind of nicely tied in.

So it is from 2008, the one and only Eden Lake.

So when a couple goes to a remote lake for a romantic getaway, their quiet weekend is shattered by an aggressive group of kids.

Paying for it, which we talked about.

And this one, it really did.

I found it absolutely terrifying.

Eden Lake was on fire.

I think I figured out

And I'm put in mind of when we did that cult episode, and there was that Christina Ricci one, and you dragged it across the coals for not And that was your choice to put it there.

But I think this is very strange that you would give me Eden Lake with these other ones.

Well, and there's also the like crazy 80s or whatever episode we did.

But then it had that Eric Stoltz, Jennifer Jason Leigh, like melodrama.

There's sometimes interesting outliers.

But I would even argue that in Eden Lake, there's a family dynamic at work.

and there's people trying to get out of a place that they just cannot get out of.

There's an element of that sort of suffocating trap.
