Eddie Hill

In April 1988 at the Texas Motorplex, it nearly was smashed.

On the same weekend that Eddie Hill ran four ninety-nine, a door slammer almost went six ninety-nine, and I mean almost.

Thirty-eight cars showed up to the Motorplex to compete in top sportsmen, which showed the growth of the category and the explosive excitement around it.

They wanted to tango in the cool spring Texas air on what was the first, and at that time, the only all-concrete national-level drag strip on the planet, making it by far the best surface that any racer was able to lay the lumber to all year long.
