We're on a plane with Jesse Jackson, and he's wondering if the seat next to him is gonna have anyone in it because, hey, it's gonna be a long flight, and I want to get some sleep.

And in comes Wheel of Fortune contestant winner Ed Grimley

Grimley, the second of nine times that he will perform this character on Saturday Night Live, the final being a cameo in the Hotline Bling sketch from the episode that Donald Trump hosted in 2015.

[laughs] And I do like the fact that they decided to follow up with, uh, the Wheel of Fortune business from the first, uh, time we saw him on Saturday Night Live.

All those times I said Whorehouse.

And then we slam into a, a riff on Nightmare at 20,000 Feet from the Twilight Zone because what...

He had like a spiky flat top, didn't he?

Almost like an Ed Grimley or something.

So that was another part of my day.

Now, during this time at Hanna-Barbera, we were doing a show called The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley.

And that was Martin Short's Ed Grimley show.

And because it was all the SCTV actors and all working on-camera actors, we didn't start recording that show until 7 o'clock at night.

And so I might have had a day that started at... eight and then a full day of work at Hanna-Barbera and then a dinner break and then start at seven o'clock, almost a brand new day.

This show was the first show I did any ADR on ever, any dialogue replacement.

And the system could only preset 100 cues.

An Ed Grimley show might have as many as 280 cues.

Now, Sheridan's the dude that created massive hits like Yellowstone, Landman, The Madison, Lioness, Tulsa Kings and more.

Hell of a run not seen since Trey Gowdy won the Ed Grimley lookalike contest 10 years in a row.

Since Yellowstone began in 2018, his shows did get nominated, but only for technical stuff and zero wins.
