Uh, political parties, uh, came through as well.

We had the ANC, uh, the DA, the EFF, MK Party as sort of the four top major parties.

We also had other parties like, uh, the Patriotic Alliance, uh, uh, ActionSA, Rise Mzansi, uh, BOSA, uh, you name it.

So I want to know from you this morning, what piqued your interest yesterday? Uh, what are your thoughts on what was debated, what they said? Which candidate impressed you? Who disappointed you? Who helped you decide who to vote for in Johannesburg, if you've now decided after listening to them? Um, I'm gonna play some of the clips from yesterday for those who missed the debate in between our conversation.

It's just been so messy with how the organization, um, has been preparing for the elections.

So they sent us Jacob Mamabolo, um, as someone to represent the ANC in Johannesburg.

So we'll start with his opening statement, um, when we started yesterday, and then I'll play the DA, EFF, and the MK Party, and then I'm gonna come straight to your calls.

He's also busy with organizational work.

Leanne Matei, Sister Lone, EFF MP, who's really putting in the hours for this report.

And quite a few other members, you know, Soso Kanyile, Togo Soso Kanyile of the ANC, also quite rare in these deliberations.

And, you know, the MK Party member, you know, David Skosana, raising this issue of absenteeism you know even not being able to give excuses for his own party members he says no he hasn't received any you know apology from his fellow party members so he's losing patience as well with this uh you know um issue of non-attendance the committee has also not a lot of momentum according to these members it seems quite you know things are just you know happening um as they happen they postpone meetings on the regular um they supposed to meet every day but they don't meet as much as they would like to and you know um uh the chairperson of the of the committee saying they will be writing to these members you know to raise this issue of non-attendance uh as far as the the request for an extension is concerned they've written to the speaker The speaker has not yet responded according to the committee official that we've tried to reach out to Mandy.

From the EFF, we've got Dr. Kaling Mufukeng.

From Action SA, we have Ayanda Ali, who is representing him in Mashaba, whom I'm told is engaged and out of the country.

That's the DA mayoral candidate in Johannesburg, Helen Ziller.

We now move to the EFF.

Dr. Taleng Mufukeng is the EFF's mayoral candidate in the city.

But if you look at the other parties, and I think you can understand why the DEA is second at 17%, because there is still a lot of distrust in some communities about the DEA's commitment to genuine transformation, still lots of belief that it is A white controlled party which acts primarily in the interests of white capital and so on.

But the IFP only on 6 percent and Action SA polling higher than the EFF.

And then there is this big elephant in the room, the outlier MKP.

And.

You know, Quinita, part of me wants the EFF and other smaller parties to win municipalities outright so they don't have to be in coalitions so we can see whether they are able to put into practice what they are promising.

But I fear for the people of Itequini if the MKP is in there without any brakes.

And see what happens in the provincial election, right? When I was talking before the election to say, hey, guys, you know, we spent a lot of time in KSRN saying, hey, there's this force to be reckoned with in KSRN called the MK Party.

Supporting these two coming together says something about the need to be led, the need to be saved because the people in this country have not been heard and they will literally let anyone save them, including Helen Zola.

Your thoughts on EFF and Julius Malema?

Let me take a sip before I go into this one.

Do we need to get you another bottle?

I appreciate, at times, their loud presence in Parliament as well as in public spaces.

If you'd asked me in 2024, when it was the election season, who I was going to vote for, though I didn't publicly endorse them, I voted for the EFF.

But I suppose as you grow up, you start to realize that you need to put action to your words.

And perhaps this is because they've not had the ability to participate in direct government.

But today they were gathered to talk about their decision to rescind the choice of advocate Tandar Zani Maroncella as evidence leader.

So how did things go? Because one of the parties in that committee, the Economic Freedom Fighters, have indicated that they would want to take this particular decision, i.e.

to rescind the choice of advocate Maroncella to the courts.
