Eco-Challenge

And then so we crossed not that long after them.

But the question we asked ourselves after that race was, did we really need that one hour of sleep? So our next race, which was an event, is a big thing at the time called the Eco Challenge.

It came to New Zealand in 2000.

And one also, I might be getting my years mixed up here, but I think I'm correct.

I think both those races were in the same year, 2001.

The World Champs was about September and the Eco Challenge was November or December.

So we went into that race going, we lost the world champs by one hour because we slept by one hour.

So let's actually be open to the possibility of not sleeping at all in the eco challenge if that's what is required.

So adventure racing is what led me to meet Joe DeSena.

So Joe also had found his way to adventure racing and got involved in it, wound up doing an eco challenge.

And then I eventually started my own business, putting on adventure races in the Northeast.

And it was there that the first time that I met him, he came with another guy and raced one of my races.

And then the financial crisis hit.

and it really put a squeeze on the adventure racing.

Adventure racing, a lot of money, a lot of travel, a lot of equipment, kind of a small community, but it just kind of, it started to fizzle out a little bit, although the Eco Challenge was still on TV, so that was giving it some life.

And Joe called up, and he had bought a property in Vermont, he was looking to put on events up there.
