Eben Novy-williams

Hello, I'm Scott Soshnick.

And I'm Eben Novy-Williams.

And this is the Yorkers, Bouncers, and Googly's sports business podcast, The Sportacast.

I love it.

We're tracking 22.9 times revenue.

I think you just

stole the Eben question.

I know Eben wanted to hit the multiples.

grab.

Let's play the game where I say to you, right, Eben, what is out there that could really threaten professional sports as an industry.

Like we, we've seen now a, uh, you know, a disease, you know, you had COVID shut everything down.

And as long as you can somehow some way broadcast, even if it's empty, you're okay.

So if you're going to go to Mexico City, call the Slims, all right? That's all I have to say.

All right, now, so all these people with all this money, I say to you, Eben, knee-jerk reactions.

Do you want to put your money into a big four, five sports team? Or do you want to put your money into, I'll say stock market, but I'll break it down, S&P, NASDAQ? Where are you putting your money and where do you think you're getting a better return right now? And I only ask because Badenhausen, Kurt, has the answer.

Yeah.

And then you have two leagues, Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer, that are at this point seems like just fully divorced from the kind of growth trajectory of the broader market as

well.

All right, Eben, let me see if you applaud what I'm about to do.

Kara Walsh is going to yell at me, but I can do what I want to do and I'll accept the punishment.

Hello, I'm Scott Soshnick.

And I'm Eben Novy-Williams, and this is the timeless headache sports business podcast, The Sportacast.

Oh, I like that because it's on point, but it's not giving away what it is.

Nobody would have any idea what you're talking about.

I just found this really, really funny.

So this is Eben Novy-Williams, who I believe is a sports writer.

And this is, uh, so [laughs] I'm just gonna read it and then I'm gonna read the next slide to you.

Evan says, "I promise you, you are not prepared for the first paragraph of this Real Madrid statement." Right.

Hello, I'm Scott Sosnick.

And I'm Eben Novy-Williams, and this is the Nobody Beats the Miz-

Ooh

...

Hello, I'm Scott Soshnick.

And I'm Eben Novy-Williams, and this is the back in the US of A sports business podcast, the Sportacast.

[upbeat music]

Know where I'm going, Eben? You got it?

I'm on the other- You're going the other direction.

I do know where you're going.

...

I feel like, in London, started with or very quickly turned to what, what do you make of Man City? What do you think's gonna happen with Man City?

Hello, I'm Scott Soschnick.

And I'm Eben Novy-Williams, and this is the Sun Belt Surge sports business podcast, The Sportacast.

I see what you did there, but I got so many sidelines.

I'm not comfortable in my seat.

God, do I love that.

All right.

But you said something about the Sun Belt, Eben, and that was a reference to the National Hockey League because Kurt worked his magic once again this week and put out NHL valuations and Gavin McKenna's team up top at number one.

Sorry, Austin Matthews, but until you win a Stanley Cup, it's now Gavin McKenna's team, even though he doesn't go out first on the ice for his rookie lap.
