Eben-Ezer

"And the word of Samuel came to all Israel.

Now Israel went out against the Philistines to battle and pitched beside Eben-ezer." And the Philistines pitch in Aphek.

It's a long reading, be patient.

And the Philistines put themselves in array against Israel.

Starting in verse 1, it says, And Samuel's words came to all Israel.

Israel went out to meet the Philistines in battle and camped at Ebenezer, while the Philistines camped at Aphek.

The Philistines lined up in battle formation against Israel, and as the battle intensified, Israel was defeated by the Philistines, who struck down about 4,000 men on the battlefield.

When the troops returned to the camp, the elders of Israel asked, why did the Lord defeat us today before the Philistines? Now we touched on the first words of this chapter last week of Samuel's words coming to all Israel, meaning Samuel prophesied in Israel and all his words were passed on to all of Israel and he was known for having the word of the Lord and that word always coming true.

Israel went out to meet the Philistines in battle.

Marching out, they camped.

They camped at a place called Ebenezer.

Does anybody know why it's called Ebenezer? And let me tell you, it has nothing to do with the Christmas carol.
